After being a witness to so much fighting, and to Nicholas' death, she was rather shaken and more than glad to forget

Was aware of Atticus and Phin's hostile relationship, and even tried to resolve it on a few occasions, but was never a witness to much until the bridge incident.
Adelaide stood by and watched the event from afar, shouting desperately for everyone to stop fighting.
She was one of the only ones to see Nicholas fall over the edge of the bridge. And her immediate emotional reaction was stronger than that of most.
Adelaide ran away, calling for help, and led the emergency personal down to the end of the stream where she rejoined her friends.
She was more than happy to forget the situation and have the opportunity to move on with her life as a normal child

Ad. Steward- "I know how it affected Nicholas. It wasn't well. But I'm not a mind reader. Perhaps if I could talk with my friends I could tell you."

Ad. Steward- "Where's Atticus? I think he's good at making decisions."
