Overview
The Laughing King
a tall slender gentleman wearing a garishly colorful patchwork suit and an equally garish floppy patchwork top hat, where his face should be is but a mask with an empty red smile the eyes however are not set right one sits higher than the other and both appear to be drawn on
the miserable god, the unwanted joke, the comic frown, the foreseeing laugh, the laughing prophet
Appearance
a tall slender gentleman wearing a garishly colorful patchwork suit and an equally garish floppy patchwork top hat, where his face should be is but a mask with an empty red smile the eyes however are not set right one sits higher than the other and both appear to be drawn on, the more you look the more you notice how odd he's dressed and that you can't see his skin, his gloves are drawn up into his sleeves, the collar of his shirt flared up its almost as if he's hollow in the clothes he wears
5'10" with out the hat but the hat adds a good foot of height and he rarely takes it off
surprisingly light
Symbolism
the joke taken too far, his smiling mask with the eyes drawn on wrong, prophetic sight
humor, practical jokes, prophecy, wild guessing proven right, the lie made true
Powers
can produce an almost comical amount of items from his person if it is for the joke, can kinda see the future much to his chagrin, can grant both great strength and great endurance as long as it's for a joke, kinda follows cartoon logic for his person
can get in over his head, and in fact is, if others don't think its funny he tends to deflate (literally) being reminded that he is no longer free to do what he wants
full of hot air - he can literally deflate if his jokes fall flat enough (get it, flat)
Rituals
none
a coin is left under a piece of cloth, in mock of a magic trick that the laughing king is quite fond of, to invite him in, it rarely works, but it does make him mad
the laughing king is new enough as a god that he doesn't really have any traditions
constantly bothering mortals and gods, and other spirits, if he can get a laugh he's happy
History
its really not fair, you know, I he really did was tell a few dozen minor spirits about the birth of some twins, they weren't even special, sure he had given them his boon, but he was going to do that anyway, the Stanzgarain palace had been getting boring, but he hadn't expected it to get so out of hand, when the 5th greater spirit came and blessed the little ones he tried to put a stop to it but by then it was too late, but the real nail in his coffin was when people started leaving him gifts, and offerings, before he knew it he'd been dragged in front of ole fire eye sitting on his throne looking menacing, he'd apparently been granted lesser godhood, and thats when the paper work started
Notes
the laughing kings prank of convincing the entire unseen realm that two stanzgarian royal twins were some kind of good omen worked until it got out of hand, and so he was made a god, under the direct authority of Tal' zanithal, who keeps a closer eye ( ha ) on him now, because enough people believed it to be true to make it so
if the laughing king wants to frown he has to turn his mask upside down, it doesn't change the mask its just the closet he can accomplish
he sounds like he's talking through a fan from within a hollow space
has a sound track for his movements and reactions
