Religiously directed military orginization

The Order of the Firespear exists for the sole purpose of spreading the spirit of Adraghe to the farthest reaches of the world. Since its inception it has grown increasingly capable as a religious and military orginization.

The single most important directive given to members of the order is to provide assistence and relief to any in need. This rule is to be followed by the knights and clerics, the member groups responsible for stewardship of chapels and townships under the order's protection, any time a person in need should ask them for aid.

For Paladins, the highest ranking and most notable members of the order, this first tenant is their entire existence. A Paladin of the Order of the Firespear adopts the title with the knowledge that he will spend most of his life in search of trouble and those in need, and that he will never turn down a serious request no matter how small. Humorous anecdotes tell of mighty armor clad paladins fetching water from the town well for the elderly and retrieving a beloved cat caught in the branches of some high tree. While these tales are usually told in jest, it is very likely that such events transpire on a regular basis around the world.

In addition to the altruistic spread of relief the order seeks to secure and protect strongholds to facilitate its growth and operation. As an organization run mostly by charitibale donations the military branches of the order take the protection of territory within their sphere of influence very seriously.

The ultimate goal of the Order, as penned by Borom Firespear himself, is to "ceaselessly drive back the vile things of the world that all people may be able to live without fear". To the newly initiated and layman, this is an accomplishable task. In the eyes of the everyman there is only so much evil in the world.

To the Red Knights, the Cindermen and the Paladins of the order it is an endless and thankless struggle against a tide of villainy that will never end. When one crack in the wall is sealed, two more open.

Any source of suffering is an obstacle to the members of the order.

The clerics and clergy of the Cindermen fight against the evils of disease, hunger, poverty and ignorance.

The Red Knights always find the agents of greed, trickery and mailce in the seedy dark alleys and ravaged villaged of their territory.

The Paladins wage perhaps the most impossible battle against any form of evil, no matter how small. One Paladin may be locked in a battle against a powerful necromancer, bending the tortured souls of the departed to his will, while another may work tirelessly to track a bandit lord across half a continent.

These sometimes esoteric and intangable threats can take the form of a powerful organization or individual. While the order does typically stay away from problems of the purly political nature more and more Paladins find their way to Imperium Aeternum to fight against that nation's indiscriminate use of violence of fear to subjugate its people.
