Overview
Slip Rings
Ring
A ring in two parts. An inner, stable one and an outer, rotating one. The outer ring has eight simple symbols. In order they are:
A Sun
A Crescent Moon
A Five-Point Star
A Mountain Range
A Snowflake
Three Raindrops
A Lightning Bolt
A Cloud
Looks
Metal. It appears to be solid, but under a microscope, it appears to be made of tiny machinery, getting smaller and smaller the deeper you look. It is in fact made of near-infinitely tiny nanites, so small that no machine is capable of finding them at their base form.
About a gram.
History
Slip Rings were invented shortly after the nanites were introduced to Citadel. Without them, it would be impossible to create them. This was a long time ago, in the memories of those who were there.
Abilities
Each Symbol produces a different effect, with the force dictated by the rank of the user.
The Sun creates light and heat. For the lowest rank, it can create between a small flame and burning sun-like fireball.
The Moon hides and obscures, and can render an area in total darkness. It can make small to medium objects, or the user, completely invisible.
The Star is the most dangerous. It allows the user to manipulate gravity, from walking on the ceiling, to making a gravity well strong enough to suck up everything in the area.
The Mountain gives control of minerals and metals. The heavier the particles, periodically, the harder they are to manipulate.
The Snowflake allows the user to absorb and redistribute heat, able to bring anything in a small area to Absolute Zero.
The Raindrops allow the user to produce water by manipulating the air. They can create storms and summon jets of water.
The Lightning Bolt, as it's shape would imply, allows the user to summon and manipulate electrical energy.
The Cloud allows the user to control pressure systems in the air, creating wind, or suction.
