I need to stop silently checking out the girls at my church it’s probably really weird
The LGBTQ+ Community Chat :)
I'm genuinely not kidding when I say that being in the closet is the single thing that tanked my mental health the most. I'm definitely down to talk sometime if you want/need to
Thanks my dude, might take you up on that offer sometime. And likewise to you :)
Guys my college classes start tomorrow and I am TERRIFIED
Okay so I’m pissed off. My friend is a woman and he uses he/him pronouns. Not that hard to just call him what he wants. But my mom was constantly misgendering him over a video call I was having that she wasn’t even invited to and honestly I’m sick of it. She says he isn’t a real woman and that he/him pronouns are exclusively male. So I want to prove a point. Who here thinks you can use whatever pronouns you want regardless of gender as gender is a social construct and limiting a person’s use of terminology they want is shitty, or do you believe in binary gendered pronouns and other TERF-y and transphobic things because genuinely I need to prove a point here.

Gender is a social construct and calling someone by the right pronouns is the least you can do to make someone feel comfortable and accepted. Just because you don't understand why someone might id as a woman but use he/him pronouns doesn't mean you should misgender them. It's not really your business to find out either. Nobody is hurting anyone by picking the pronouns that work for them.
Exactly. Like. I just, it isn’t that hard. Seriously.

I mean, like it might be hard to grasp that someone uses he/him pronouns and ids as a woman, but just. Call that person by the right pronouns and don't think about it too much lol
ye, i feel like people should be called by whatever makes them feel happy or comfy
it don't need to make sense to you, you just gotta respect their decision yanno?
Honestly my mom is only okay with transness as long as the person fits into a binary gender, passes, and is a man because for some reason she thinks trans women aren’t really women and honestly it’s frustrating because over half my friend group is trans and like. Most of them do not fit in with her idea of gender. I’m sorry for venting I’m just pissed about things.

Exactly!
Thank you!
Spoiler - click to show.Going along with that- I always used to stupidly think to myself "whY dOnt pEopLe jUsT staY cLosEteD iF tHey kNow tHeiR pAreNts wiLL Be baD tO tHem?"
Now I get it. It's so much constant anxiety and pressure to stay closeted. I mean if you can stay closeted and are fine with that, that's great. But now I understand why people say they feel like they have to come out. I wonder how long I'll last in the closet.
Honestly being closted really sucks for two reasons. One, it's really hard and exausting to cover your tracks and make sure you don't out yourself. And two, not being able to actually be who you are … really hurts and really sucks. Like it sounds cliche but not being able to be who you truly are is a really hard and hurtful experience.
So yeah anyways I totally get what you mean.

Everything's either an illusion a social construct, including gender
so the topic of sexuality came up once again somehow in the group chat
…maybe I shouldn’t have said I’m not aromantic, should’ve just left it at ace
the support has gone down
the “oh you’ll change your mind when you get older” convo has begun
I’m alright, but it doesn’t feel nice coming from the first people you’ve opened up to
Its terrible when people say things like that. Its not a phase. Its not something that a person can grow out of. Its their life.
Stay out of their decisions and their way of living, if you feel as though something they're doing is harmful to them or others, then butt in, but not when someone is figuring out/ has figured out their sexuality. Stay out of it.
Yeah, especially when people are new to their sexuality, or have only really known for a year or so, other people trying to change them can lead to some not fun trauma :/

And, like, it's totally fine if down the line you realize that the label you gave yourself doesn't quite fit, that's totally fine and normal. But what isn't fine is when other people try to tell you how you're supposed to/will identify.
hello friends, its been a while, hows everyone doing?
I could be better.
Being single really sucks.
The girl I like is taken.
My ex keeps trying to get back with me.

Ooh just found out that the sequel to a book I really liked is gonna have that sweet sweet sapphic content!!
I know it’s not needed for non binary people to be androgynous, but I really wished I looked more androgynous. Just neither looking nor feminine nor masculine..maybe in between, maybe not.
thinking back to an anon I was chatting with last night and how they wished to be a shapeshifting eldritch horror, take on any form they so desire. And I say to that, hell yeah.
Yes shapeshifting powers please

I’m so tempted to show this to my parents and see what they say. I don’t know if they watch Good Morning Britain since we all hate Piers Morgan, but as well…
Okay, so this is weird, but rn I am craving Sushi hardcore.
