Lotus finally realized Cat was there and immediately went to hide their hand even though they knew it was all too late. Their head looked up slightly though never meeting Cat's eyes or face hardly. Everything still felt too bright and the noises were still too loud. They kept up a defense position despite stumbling over their words, "What, what do you want?" Come here to make fun, fun of me?"
"Just becuase we're soulmates, doesn't mean I like you" (O/O) (Closed)
”No I wanted to make sure you were ok, ” she says keeping her volume low. ”you seemed scared and I was concerned. Now I think I get why.”
Lot took a breath and removed their hand from where it was hidden though the stars were covered. The lights seemed to grow brighter before dimming slightly, "I, I don't know what you're talking about."
”I saw your hand Lotus. Also sorry about that you probably get little sketches all the time, ” she said trying to lighten the mood. and other marks she thought.
Lot let the stars show a little. They took another breath letting the lights rise and fall once more, "They've been a pain, pain to hide, but you're fine."
She nodded. ”I didn't even notice I had that Mark. I thought I just had the eye thing, ” she admitted. or no soulmate at all.
"Once I found out I decided to never write on my skin," Lotus admitted softly. They still refused to look at Cat and was glad that they were wearing make-up to cover up their imprinted mark.
Cat nodded. ”Makes sense. So umm, ” she started. ”Are you ok?”
"No," Lot muttered to themselves. Cat had exposed a crack in their shell and seemed to keep breaking more.
”do you want to talk about it?” she asked slightly awkwardly. She wasn't very good at emotions. Her own or other people.
"Also no," Lot responded back to Cat. They curled back up trying to put heir walls back up, "Don't you have a class to go to?"
Cat shrugged. ”if you want me to go I will but I don't really care about my class,” she said sitting down.
Lotus took a deep breath and glanced up at Cat, "Go, please."
Cat nodded. ”sorry, ” she whispered before standing up. Her arms crossed.
Lotus let out a long sigh as Cat left. They didn't bother to let the idea of consequence sit in choosing to go back into their ball and let the sensory overload walk its way out.
Cat didn't go to her class. Instead, she wandered the halls and then hid out in the library until the end of the school day. She wasn't sure if she should be dreading Sunday or not.
Lot stepped out of their last class taking another breath and walked out of the building. They just wanted to get home and lock themselves in their room without interruption. God, they had to meet with Cat on Saturday, didn't they? That was going to be a nightmare.
Cat went to work. The entire time all she could think about was Lotus. During her break, she took out a pen. ”Hey” she wrote on her hand below the stars.
Lotus looked down at their hand feeling a tingle as they worked at their desk. They saw Cat's message and thought for a moment. They slowly reached over and grabbed a pen writing beneath Cat's message "um, hey"
”wyd?” she asked not really what she was doing. Lotus obviously didn't want her and having a soulmate didn't exactly fit into her plans either but she also really didn't want to just ignore this.
"finishing up my project" Lotus admitted still not sure why they were doing this. They didn't want a soulmate, certainly not one that would draw them attention. They continued writing, "what about you?"
”on my lunch break,” she writes. Her handwriting was messy but she tried her best to make it as neat as possible.
"cool" Lot wrote back not sure how exactly to respond. They let out an annoyed breath that they were putting more effort into this written conversation then they did their own work.
”yeah just wanted to remind you that we are meeting on Sunday, ” she lies trying to rap up the conversation. She had no clue why she started this.
“i thought we were meeting saturday?” Lot asked back now more puzzled than confused.
”i thought we said Sunday at the library?” she writes back. ”i have work tomorrow.”
“probably,” Lot admits after some thought, “must’ve misremembered”
Cat nodded even though there was no one there to see. ”yeah is Sunday ok?”
“works just as well” Lot responded tapping their pen on their desk. They didn’t have any deadlines for that day so everything would be fine, besides they were ahead on their commisions anyways.
"Great" theres a hesitation before she finishes writing. "See you then!" She puts down her pen and eats her lunch.
