Sterling laughed a bit and sped up to reach her. “Well, I was in track in high school, so I’d say we’re pretty closely matched.”

"Bring it then." She smirked, uping her speed to regain her lead.
Sterling laughed again as he continued to run faster. If he could just match her speed…
Yeah, that wasn't happening. Not if she had anything to say about it. She could keep this speed no problem.
Well, Sterling was a very determined man. If he wanted something, he would get it. And so he ran faster.
Don't take that out of context. "Come on track boy, is that the best you got?" She teased.
(Oh, gosh… You remind me of my friends from public school. Lol.)
“Oh, it’s definitely not my best, little assassin,” Sterling chuckled, running faster and passing her.
"Oh so that's how you wanna play okay then!" Her best was something she only used in emergencies…or when she wanted to show off. Like right now! So that's what she did. Not just pulling ahead, but gaining a steady lead. As long as her focus wasn't broken, she could keep doing this.
“Hey, that’s totally not fair!” Sterling laughed, catching up to her just enough that he could jump and throw his arms around her.
She squealed and laughed. "Who are you to talk about what's fair, cheater?"
“This way neither of us wins! So it’s a tie!” Sterling chuckled as they fell to the ground.
"Nuuuu!" She whined overdramatically, giggling.
“Yessssss,” Sterling laughed, rolling away from her. He stood and offered her his hand with a grin.
She took it gratefully and stood, brushing sand off her jeans.
Sterling kissed her hand with a wink before he let it go. “Still want to go to the water?”
"Yeah! Water! Whoo!" She cheered overdramatically.
“I’m not sure if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not,” Sterling chuckled, walking toward the water.
"Little bit of both, love." She shrugged, walking next to him.
“So would you rather not go to the water, then?” Sterling asked, stopping in his tracks to look at her.
She facepalmed, giggling. "You take me too seriously. I was sarcastic about the amount of enthusiasm, that's it."
“Oh… Sorry. I did say I wasn’t great at talking to people one-on-one,” Sterling reminded her with an awkward chuckle.
"Neither am I so it looks like we're both in trouble." She chuckled.
“Whelp. That’s it. We’re doomed. Sorry, folks, that’s all you get of the ‘Sterling and Cassandra’ show!” Sterling laughed.
She nudged him playfully. "Stop it! I swear, anyone watching really must think we're dating."
“Oh, do you have a problem with that?” Sterling asked, smirking at her with a twinkle in his eye.
She thought for a second. "No. Not really."
“I figured as much. I mean, you already nicknamed me ‘love’,” Sterling said with a shrug. If she thought he was going to ask her out right then and there, she’d be mistaken. He kind of wanted to tease her a bit.
(Sorry!! Had to shower)
"I do that to everyone, don't think you're special because of it." She shot him a playful glare.
(It's fine, don't worry about it!)
Sterling smirked and raised an eyebrow at her. "Yes, but I'm me and you're you. That means it's different."
"Yeah. Uh huh. Whatever you say." She smiled a little and rolled her eyes.
