"I think… I think I might like that," Autumn said softly, her cheeks feeling like a flame had been set off inside them.
Kayla cocked her head as she looked at him. To her, he didn't look ages old. He just looked… really cute…

Kayla cocked her head as she looked at him. To her, he didn't look ages old. He just looked… really cute…
Alex smiled, despite his chewing. “I… I would too. You’re great. You really are.”
J felt someone’s gaze on him and peeked open his eyes. He smiled a little, spotting Kayla staring. She’s so adorable.
Autumn's blush deepened, if that was even possible with how red she was already.
"Thanks… You are, too," she whispered, giving him a gentle smile.
Kayla's eyes widened when J looked up at her. She blushed and looked back down. Stop it stop it stop it…
Alex looked away, feeling his face heat up. “Thanks. That’s good to hear.”
J smiled a little then sat back in his chair. He stretched out, shaking his head and yawning.
(Mm… Gluten free, dairy free brownie ice cream…)
"So. What now?" Autumn wondered quietly.
Kayla shook her head at herself. She was being ridiculous. She needed to stop swooning over him.
(Shhhhh)
Alex smiled at her. “Whatever you want.”
J rubbed his face then stole a look for Kayla. Should… I say something?
(Lol.)
Autumn smiled back a bit. "Well… What if we, um, go eat sometime? Or, like, just hang out?"
Kayla was burning with embarrassment. Her normally pale cheeks were such a bright red that it was a wonder she hadn't turned into a tomato yet.
Alex grinned. “We’ve already done both of those things. Bother were really fun.”
J glanced up at her worriedly. What do I say?
"True, true," Autumn agreed, nodding with a slight laugh. "But that doesn't mean we can't do them again. And more often."
Kayla felt his gaze on her and finally dared to look up at him. She gave him a small smile, biting the inside of her cheek.
Alex nodded. “We definitely should hang out more. It’s cheaper.”
J met her gaze and gave a small, warm smile back. He hoped she didn’t look away.
"Totally," Autumn chuckled.
Kayla held his gaze, though her cheeks still burned. Maybe he would say something…?
J bit his lip nervously. “Hey, Kayla, could you come with me to grab some more chocolate?”
"O-oh. Yeah, sure," Kayla said, standing quickly.
J rose and grabbed the plate of chocolate before anyone could notice. He lead her into Alex’s house and into the kitchen.
Kayla followed timidly, playing with her fingers as they walked. "So…"
J set down the plate and turned to look at her. Now that she was here he had no idea what to say.
"Those must've been some pretty good marshmallows," Kayla joked quietly, simply trying to break the silence.
J smiled a little. “They were delicious.”
"Must've been. How many did you eat?" Kayla asked.
J frowned a little in thought. “Twenty-ish?”
Kayla giggled. "Seriously? That's so many!"
J smiled brightly. "I enjoy mallows. No matter how bad they are for me."
"Clearly," Kayla said with another giggle.
J smiled at her giggle. "Hey, didja wanna go out sometime?"
Kayla froze, wide-eyes and unblinking.
"O-oh. Um, yeah. Yeah, totally," she said, stumbling over her words.
J blinked at her, hastily adding, "It's okay if you don't want to."
"No, no! I do!" Kayla said, smiling. "I totally do!"
J smiled in relief. "Good. Great! When should we meet? Where?"
Kayla shrugged. "There's a nice cafe around here, and I'm free tomorrow."
J smiled happily. "Sounds wonderful! See you then?"
