"It's okay," she spoke, straightening her posture. "My mother was a perfect woman. Its her lifespan that.. Didn't receive the same longevity.."
Oh. He swallowed, nodding. “What was her name?”
"Mary." She replied.
At this, he smiled. “My mother was Marie.”

"Really?" She cast a curious look at Pierre. "What a quinkidink,"
“Quinkidink?” He laughed sweetly. “I love it. And yes, my mother’s name was Marie.”
"Mary and Marie," she mused, stirring cinnamon and sugar with the apples. "You reckon they'da been friends, Pierre?"
He leaned over, darting in with his finger and swiping up a bit of cinnamon sugar. He popped the tip of the digit in his mouth, eyes sparkling. “Probably. What was your momma like?”
"Uh, lots like me. But.. loads more southern," she chuckled. "If Virginia and Georgia had a kid, she'd be it," Edonine chortled.
He laughed, licking the last of the sweet residue from his lips. “With my mother, she was a quiet French girl, you know? Shy, French accent, blonde.”
"A shy French and a God-fearing hick," she laughed. "I see the potential."
Pierre snorted. “That would have been quite the sight.”
"I suppose," she chuckled, added vanilla to the mix.
“Mm. That—“ he gestured to what she was making. “Looks delicious.”
"You know what else looks delicious?" She looked at him suggestively, then, "A good apple pie."
Pierre burst out laughing. “You scared me there!”
She threw her head back with laughter as well, "I meant to catch you off guard!"
He shoved at her shoulder, shaking his head. His shoulders still shook with laughter. “Not funny.”
"You laughed like you got a feather tickled up yer bum." She teased, chartreuse eyes squinted with amusement.
“Edonine!” In truth, he was immensely amused, but he managed to construct a fake pout.
She crossed her arms with playful indignance. "What~? What're you gonna do?"
He leaned in close, mustering a playful grin. “There’s probably a lot I could do to hush your teasing~”
She curled up a lip. "Oh?"
He tilted his head slightly, the tip of his nose brushing her. “Mm.”
"Sneaky." She replied with a smile.
He pulled away to stick his tongue out at her.
Edonine chuclkled, and tossed the mixture into a pan to cook over the fire.
