"I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with this house quite yet, so I may not be of much help."

He pullled his black leather gloves off of his hands, "Who are you again?" The soldier asked, clearly distrustful of Jane.

"I'm John's fiancée," she replied, lifting her chin proudly.

He blinked, then smiled. "Fiancée? I never thought that man would marry!" He exclaimed delightedly.

Bailey glanced sideways for a moment, "I guess you're right, then.."

“I get off in half an hour. Try not to get much more drunk before then.” George resumed his wiping down of the table, wondering what on Earth he had gotten himself into.

Bailey let his head sink down against the counter. "Fine.."

He blinked, then smiled. "Fiancée? I never thought that man would marry!" He exclaimed delightedly.

She blushed. "Well…"

"Well, you must be a jewel then, ma'am," the young man laughed cordially. "If he can marry, anyone can,"

"Sir, you flatter me. I am just a simple girl," Jane replied.

He laughed, pushing back wisps of hair. "I'd like to see how the Lieutenant replied to that,"

"Are you one of his comrades, sir?" she inquired.

Bailey let his head sink down against the counter. "Fine.."

"April," Cruz spoke softly. It was Thanksgiving, of which he'd been pardoned a few days to celebrate. He reached over a hand to touch her face, and rouse her from sleep. "Goodmorning,"

April let out a small groan, turning to bury her face in the pillow. “G’morning.” Her words were muffled.

He shook his head to adjust to the matter at hand, "Err, well, it's classified. He should have it?—military letters are wrapped in red ribbon," the man explained to Jane.

She nodded. "Let me check his office. If you'll excuse me for a moment…"

"Yes'm," the Ranger replied.

April let out a small groan, turning to bury her face in the pillow. “G’morning.” Her words were muffled.

He drew a hand around her ear to tuck back her black hair. "You look so pretty in the morning,"

“I was unaware you had a thing for ogres with terrible breath,” she mumbled, but a faint pink had risen to her cheeks.

"Shhh." Cruz laughed, such a sweet noise to break the silence. Luckily his naturally loud volume had become bearable to her ears now.
