Jack took a bite of his pizza. 'I like you. Not because I have to. Because I want to.' he said repeating her.

Eden read, pushing down the strangest urge to cry. “Thank you.” She rested her head on his shoulder. “You make me feel safe. Like I’m on the right track now that I’ve met you. And I know we just met today, but…I don’t know. It’s just this inexplicable feeling. It just feels…right.”

He laughs knowing exactly what she was saying.

“I like your laugh.” She almost whispered this. It was so soft, but she did mean it. She squeezed his hand, just for a second so he could use it to type if he needed to.

He smiles and whispered thanks very quietly.

She rubbed his hand with her thumb, just back and forth, calmly. She took in the silence, letting it stay there. She just wanted to sit and live and exsist right there, next to him, in this moment. She felt confident in their pairing, ever so grateful that it was everything she had ever wanted, and it was only just beginning.

Jack yawned hugging her lightly.

(Btw, if you want we can time skip until he leaves for the night…or doesn’t….anyway you know. Only if you want, I really don’t mind either way.)

Later that day jack sighed. 'I have to leave soon.' he typed.

It was now about 7 o’clock. Jack has been over for a few hours. She never wanted the moment to end, but it was getting late. “Hey, I definitely don’t want you to leave, but it is getting kinda late and I just want to make sure that you can get home safely,” she assured him.

'Ok. Makes sense.'

“Okay. We can talk again tomorrow if you want. I’ll be working again, but much like today, not for very long.” She said.

He nods and he types. 'I'll message you when I get home?'

Eden beamed, “Sounds good!”

He waved and headed out.

Eden closed the door behind him. She sighed. She wished she could stay with him all the time. She wished they had meant years ago and could have had all this time together. She wished she knew him better than he knew himself, and he knew her likewise. She wanted…to love him.

Jack screamed mentally. 'Dude you were so cringey.'

Eden hoped she didn’t say or do anything stupid.

After a while he gets home.
I made it home.

Eden, upon hearing her phone buzz, looked at the message, sighing with relief. She texted back:
Awesome! Let me know if you want to do anything tomorrow.

He smiles brightly
Understood

Eden smiled to herself. She felt like a dumb 12 year old, smiling at the thought of talking to a boy. She kept smiling as she put her phone down, going to the bathroom to take her makeup off. She brushed her hair, changed into pajamas, settled onto the couch. She was going to go to bed soon, just not yet. She was still smiling when she did fall asleep in her bed an hour later.
