"Nice to know. Me too. Be sure to remember the best piece of advice: 'Don't die!'" Griffin couldn't help but smile and laugh quietly.
The Competition// one-on-one//Closed
"That is the best advice anyone could give," She chuckled and looked around in the tree, climbing up to a branch that was a little higher up so she could see better. The branch made a nice seat of sorts and she swung her leg over the sides of the branch, scanning their surroundings, "Tell me if you see anyone from our team around, or if you see any members of the other team."
"M'kay. Tell me if you decide to do anything regarding, 'us.'" Griffin smiled and stood up cautiously, making sure he didn't fall by having a hand secure to the tree trunk.
(Any ideas?)
(Maybe one or two of their teammates could come into the field being chased/fighting a few members from the other team? That's basically what happens in the book/idea in my head thing)
Dierra nodded, glancing into the woods behind them from time to time to make sure no one was coming up behind them. She kept silent though, her mind whirring with plans and worries and most importantly the fact that Griffin liked her.
(Should Griffin see it or should Dierra?)
Griffin kept watch, his eyes skittering across the open field. Nothing, not yet at least.
(He can)
She yawned softly and continued to keep watch, refusing to acknowledge the fact that she didn't get enough sleep last night. The field was empty and she nodded, happy that they didn't have anyone to deal with quite yet.
Griffin heard the noise first. "Shit. Dierra, incoming!" He points in the direction, farther into the wood. There were leaves being stepped on, twigs breaking. The people were in a hurry. (Idk who should be running from the other team, I'll leave that part to you, but if you'd like, I can help a little with the fighting scene. ex: I take the opposing side's characters and/or our teams' characters. Not yours, of course.)
(Sounds good, you can control whatever characters you want, just tell me if it's one of the people on our team)
Her eyes immediately flicked to the noise. She nodded and put a hand on her dagger until she saw that it was Cossett and Cassian, with Felix coming a few strides after them. Cossett seemed to be favoring her right arm, keeping it pressed against her body as she ran. Dierra's eyes widened slightly and she climbed back down to where Griffin was, getting ready to jump down and help at any moment. Trailing Felix was four of the other teams members, each one of them easily looking like they could easily beat the three teammates they were chasing.
Griffin jumped down once they all passed him, and threw a knife towards one of the other team's people. It nicked him in the side and he screamed, not in pain, but in rage. He held up his sword and charged towards Griffin, swinging aimlessly. Griffin dodged easily, and circled around him. Griffin's eyes had a harsh look to them as he got him in a headlock and turned towards the opposing team members. He held a dagger to his neck.
"If you make one move, he gets it!" Griffin tightens his hold on the dagger, eying the other team.
Dierra jumped down after Griffin, watching the other team with a mix of anger and challenge. She kept her dagger in her hand as she motioned for Cossett and Cassian to stay back. Felix spun around when he saw the other team was occupied and he stepped closer to Dierra, furiously whispering to her as she shook her head. "We're not here to loose." She said to the other team eventually, taking a step forward, "I'm not a fan of having to kill anyone here, but if you don't make the right choice and drop your weapons, I won't hesitate."
Cossett back away from the opposing team and sat down on the ground as Cassian gently grabbed her injured arm and tried to fix it.
(I think I have no ideas whatsoever…my brain isn't working…)
(Well, Griffin could either let the dude go and they could leave (Which isn't likely), the dude could catch Griffin off guard and it could turn into a full on fight (Which would be fun), or one of the other team members could do something)
(Second one.)
Griffin paid too much attention to the other opponents to have seen it coming. The guy who he had secured elbowed him in the gut, and managed a quick slash on his left shoulder. "Son of a-" Griffin charged at the boy, trying to jump on him, but he was thrown off. He wasn't as strong as the typical teenager, just barely weaker. His back slammed into a tree, and he swore.
Dierra's eyes widened and she glared at the other team, immediately springing into action, "Don't you dare hurt him." She muttered as she slashed her dagger at the guy who had elbowed Griffin.
Felix grinned and started fighting as well, motioning for Cassian to come help and for Cossett to get to safety. Cossett shook her head and scrambled to her feet, pressing her arm back to her chest as she got ready to fight.
"Dierra, I'm fine. Didn't expect it, that's all." Griffin pounced to the other team's members, two more guys and a girl. He aimed for the girl, and he knew what would happen. She dodged and leaned to her right, and Griffin went right behind her and cut her neck (not her throat).
"Still," She said, glaring at the guy as she fought, "We don't need any one on our team hurt, on that note, Cassian, get Cossett out of here and try to find Ari and Adrian, they have the medical kit." Felix went towards the two guys, becoming a whirlwind of blades.
"Yes ma'am," He said, grabbing Cossett's arm before she could protest and pulling her towards the forest.
"Three verses four. We're at a disadvantage, but they're less organized." Griffin landed another hit on the girl, and she collapsed, not dead, at least, not yet. Griffin gritted his teeth as he felt another cut to his side, but he stayed standing. He turned and faced his attacker, another guy. The last guy had a bow and a quiver of arrows, but he seemed hesitant to fight.
Dierra took down her opponent eventually, smacking him in the back of the head with the hilt of her dagger. She had gotten hit a few times and had faint slash marks on her arms because of it, "Last one?" She asked, rolling her wrist as she started walking towards him. Felix took down his guy as well, not as neatly though and his opponent was clearly dead when he finished.
"Yeah. Do we let him live? Give him an option? He didn't fight us at all, but he could be playing mind games." Griffin glared at him, not letting the last living oppressor flee from his sight.
"I say an option, though it probably wont matter anyway." She glanced at Griffin and Felix, shrugging, "It's up to you guys, just make it fast since we have to find Cossett and Cassian."
Felix raised an eyebrow and looked at Griffin, "I don't feel like giving him a second chance, he better beg you for mercy if he wants to live."
"I'll make it fast, then he dies less miserably."Griffin walks to the teenager, who freezes and looks at him with pleading eyes. The last words he hears before the dagger slits his throat is a soft, 'I'm sorry,' from Griffin, something only the two could hear. Griffin catches the body, and, instead of leaving it there, he plucks a wildflower from the ground, white, pristine, not tainted by blood, and sets it in the boy's hands.
"Let's go," Griffin marked, "we don't want to lose our teammates."
Dierra pressed her eyes shut for a moment, nodding her head at the body of the boy who she hadn't even known but still felt responsible for. She snapped back to reality when she heard Griffin and she nodded, only giving her teammates a glance as she started for the woods, "Let's just hope Cassian either hid somewhere nearby or he found Ari and Adrian."
Felix nodded and took the bow and arrows from the boy, not a sliver of remorse in his eyes as he shouldered the weapon and followed Dierra.
"Yep." Griffin's voice was monotone, and he stared straight ahead. He needed to focus on his team more than anything, including where he stood with Dierra and the boy he had killed. He didn't show remorse, but he felt it in every ounce of his body. He walked steadily, with some urgency, in the direction that Cassian and Cossett went.
She went quiet as they entered the woods, keeping a watchful eye out for either set of their teammates. "Keep an eye out for A and A as well as C and C." She smiled softly, quite happy that she could refer to either of the other set of members just by the letter of their first names.
"Sure." Griffin's voice was affirmative and serious. He didn't know how long he could hold out before crumbling. His pace was steady as he wondered what his family was doing, if they were watching or not, and where they were. He wondered if Ava saw what happened.
Felix pulled the new bow off of his shoulder and studied its design, testing the draw strength and nodding, "If I know Cassian at all he'll probably be up in a tree." He glanced up and a triumphant smile appeared on his face, "Found him."
Dierra followed his gaze up to the tree and smiled, seeing both Cossett and Cassian sitting above them. "Guys, it's us, we took care of the other team for now." She stalked quietly, getting no response from them as they tried to tell if it really was their team members.
Griffin walked stealthily around the tree trunk, squinting to make sure that they were really their teammates, hoping death didn't claim them.
Faint whispering could be heard from Cossett and Cassian and she started climbing down slowly, keeping her still injured arm pressed tightly against her chest as she shimmeyed down. Cassian followed right behind her, keeping his dagger out as a final safety precaution in case the others weren't their teammates.
Dierra motioned for Felix to put the bow away and he obliged, stepping back as Dierra helped Cossett the rest of the way down the tree.
(gtg for a while…)
"You two okay? I was worried you might've been killed or something." Griffin nodded towards them.
(Kk)
"We're fine." Cassian said as he reache the ground and put his dagger away, "Well, mostly fine. We both got some decent injuries from the other team, Cossett took the blunt of the force."
Dierra nodded in understanding, "Where are the injuries? We may not have the medical kit here at the moment, but we can get something."
