Dierra stopped eating momentarily, shaking her head as she shoveled the rest of her food in her mouth, "Everyone finish their food before we start talking about anything, we'll all need the strength." The others nodded and finished eating, some of them seeming quite grateful that someone had taken command for the moment. Dierra pushed her empty bowl away from herself and grabbed her necklace, taking it off her neck as she thought about what they should do.
"I'm going to take a set of throwing knives," Cassian said, answering Griffin's question.
Adrian whispered something to Ari and spoke up for the first time, "I'm going to be taking a sword, and Ari said she wants a dagger." He said, his voice quite deep as he stood up, helping her up as well, "We need to be ready for whatever they throw at us, so I'd suggest we nominate a team leader, a medic, a guide of sorts and a scout." He looked around and glanced momentarily at Cosset and Dierra, "What weapons are you going to take?"

"I'm not the leader type, but I'll be up for a scout option. We need more ranged attack, so maybe someone should take a bow? But then there's the risk of running out of arrows…" Griffin was in deep thought.
Cossett thought for a moment, "they don't allow guns, right?" Felix shook his head in response and she nodded, "I can take a bow then, I can always make more arrows in the arena."
"Anyone else want to be a scout?" Dierra asked, waiting a few seconds before nodding, "Then Griffin is out scout."
Ari nodded, also speaking for the first time anyone had heard, "I can be the medic," She said softly, "I have quite a lot of training in that area."
"She speaks," Griffin nodded to her. "Nice to know. We need a forward person or someone who distracts the other team so that I could sneak around behind them for the kill. Any volunteers?"
"Distraction," Cassian called, "I'm going to be the distraction."
Adrian nodded "You can be the distraction then." He pointed to Cosset, "Are you good with maps?" She thought for a minute and nodded. "Then you can be the navigator. Dierra? You're the team leader."
She raised an eyebrow, "Why am I leader? You seem much better at that job already."
"I'm fine with either of you, but hurry up. They might call us any minute now." Griffin's face was serious and firm, hiding the overwhelming fear that was coursing through him. "I'll say this: Adrian has the skill, Dierra is more of the bossier type, though. No offense."
"They still have to bring us our clothes and basic supplies, along with out weapons." Dierra said, glancing over at Griffin, "We still have a little time." She sighed and shrugged, "Fine, I'm the leader then."
As soon as she said that the door opened again and the two assistants from before brought their clothes in, handing them to each contestant. The clothing was a pair of black pants with several pockets, a black T-shirt and grey long sleeve, a pair of long wool socks and leather work boots, and a camo jacket with a fleece lining. They also were given a black bandana and a belt. They handed out the items silently and set the map and first aid kit on the table, asking each contestant what weapon they wanted.
"Sword," Dierra said, pointing at Felix and Adrian, "Bow," She motioned to Cosset, "Ari wants a dagger, and Cassian wants a set of throwing knives. I'll take a set of daggers."
"I want a set of knives, daggers, whatever you call 'em. Just make sure they're sharp and can kill." Griffin's voice lacked emotion as he talked to the assistants.
The assistants nodded and left once they had an idea of what weapons everyone wanted. Dierra looked at the clothes in her arms and she shrugged, standing up and walking over to her bed as she started to change, not caring that there were other people in the room.
Cosset opted to change in the bathroom and she headed over there, the others just looking at their clothes.
Griffin changed quickly, not really caring, but he still didn't like the idea of changing in front of others, especially girls. He found himself giving Dierra quick, fleeting glances before he looked down to the floor.
"Is everyone ready for this?" She asked once she finished changing. She put her clothes neatly on her bed and sat down as the others finally changed.
"Maybe? Yes? No? Do we have an option? Probably not. So be ready whether you like it or not." Griffin had finished changing.
Dierra sighed, "I don't think they'll ever give us the option." She stood up and walked back to the table, leaning against it, "But just think about it, if we make it through this, we'll have the whole day tomorrow to rest."
"I guess. A whole day to rest and do literally nothing." Griffin sighed and made sure he had all that he needed. "You know anything about where we'll fight?"
"All I know is that it's a giant arena and most of it is covered in forest, I think there's a lake or two and from what I've seen there's a giant hill in the middle." She shook her head, "But it might've changed since I've seen a picture of it..besides the hill, I'm almost certain that it still has a cliff face on one side."
The assistants came back in with the weapons and handed them out before saying, "The competition starts in five minutes, there will be another set of assistants coming to escort you to the arena in about two minutes, good luck."
"'Kay, I think I'm good to go…or as much as I can be." Griffin faked a smile.
This might be the last I see of her…no, I won't let that happen. I'd rather make sure I die at her expense than she die at mine.
Dierra looked at her weapons and smiled lightly, tucking them away and shaking out her arms, "We'll do great guys, just don't give up and fight like your life depends on it, because it does."
"Like I never knew that. Wonderful advice, but I think that, 'don't die' tops them all." Griffin managed to smirk through all the uneasiness he was feeling.
She chuckled lightly, "If I survive this, I think I'll get 'don't die' tattooed on my arm." She looked at the door as three new assistants entered, these one were more like bodyguards, very muscular and tall. They motioned for them to follow as they exited the room again and Dierra glanced at Griffin, wondering if this was going to be the last time she would see him.
Griffin posed, grinning with a peace sign by his face, and he chuckled dryly. Don't die, Dierra…
She walked out of the room and motioned for the others to follow as well, a knot of dread and worry building in her stomach as she walked towards her possible death. Cossett and Cassian walked side by side as they followed Dierra and the assistants, followed by Ari, Adrian and Felix.

Griffin walked almost beside her, anxious and terrifyingly scared.

Dierra looked over at Griffin, slowing down slightly so that she was walking next to him, "I'm going to let you know now, I have your back. When you were talking about the girl you liked last night you seemed to really like her, and I want to make sure that you can see her again, so I have your back."
"Thanks, but you don't need to go risking your life for me," because you are that girl.
She shrugged, "I'm still going to, you can't stop me." They were approaching the arena and she could hear the announcer that was showing off the teams and each of their contestants, including herself.
Griffin looked down. She'd do that? For me? But she's…Griffin, get your mind out of the gutter. You have a match to win, and a girl to protect… He winced as his name was called, and awaited orders from Dierra.
"Ready everyone?" She called, looking back at the others, "They'll give us five minutes of no fighting to get ready and where we want to be, then it's go time. Head towards the far end of the arena and stay in pairs." She grabbed her weapons and blew out a small breath as they entered the arena, the place where any one of them could die.
"Good luck," The assistants said before stepping out of the arena and closing the entrance behind themselves. The other team was a few yards away, seeming like that were getting ready to set up camp right where they were.
Griffin grabbed his daggers and a few throwing knives and walked up to Dierra. "Considering you plan on keeping me alive, does that automatically make us a pair? Or will you be insistent on it?"
She glanced over at him and nodded, "Me and you are a pair, I need to keep you from doing any stupid stuff and getting yourself killed." She turned to the others and saw that they had already formed groups, Felix seemed to be planning on going with Cossett and Cassian while Ari and Arian stuck together like normal.
"Fine…I was hoping that anyways. No one here's really that close to me. You might be an exception." You are one hell of an exception. At least I can protect you when you need it.
