The Man and His Assistant (CLOSED)

"Then why don't you get on with it?", he asked with a knowing smile.

"I don't know… we're both… hesitant, I guess that's the word for it," she remarked.

"Do you love him?", he asked. That one question determined it all.

"I didn't before," she said quietly. "But now I think I do. I really think I do."

"Does he make you happy?", the man continued.

She smiled, remembering everything Isaac had ever done for her. "Yes."

The man smiled with pure joy. It was always amazing to bring people together. "He's on the beach by the bridge. Get on with it!"

Robin slowly stood up and walked over to Isaac. "Isaac?" she asked quietly.

He didn't look up. There were tears that there was no way that he'd let her see. "Yeah?", he asked, his head still down.

Robin took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to continue. "Do you really love me?"

"Well what do you think?", she said sourly. He instantly regretted his tone of voice and bit his tongue to keep from saying anything else.

Robin flinched a little. "I-I'm sorry… Did I upset you?"

His tone had softened. "No. It's all my fault." He tried to to cry and ended up shaking.

She stood behind him and gently massaged his shoulders, like she did when he was stressed. "No it isn't."

He looked up, surprised. "You don't have to do that."

"Yes, I do," she replied, continuing to massage him gently.

A tear dripped down his cheek. "I'm such an idiot."

"And how is that?" she asked softly.

"I thought I could make you love me." He looked away.

She paused. "You thought I couldn't love you by myself?"

The surprise on his face was apparent. "Yes?" It came as more of a question.

Robin hesitated for a second, then continued massaging his shoulders. "I never thought I could be good enough for someone like you," she admitted quietly.

There was silence for a minute. "I.. you… love me?", he stuttered.

She felt her face grow hot. "Um, yes…"

He stopped crying and looked into her beautiful eyes. And then it felt like he was moving in slow motion as he brought his lips to hers.

She did her best to avoid gasping, or doing anything that might have startled him. Her heart was racing with anxiety and excitement as she slowly kissed him back.

He pulled away and searched her face for emotion. She looked surprised. A good surprised or a bad surprised?

Robin studied him. "Um… that was nice."
