Will and Nico perk. "Oh? What was the result?" Nico asks excitedly.
One on one? (Closed!)
Alison proceeded to tell them in great detail what had gone down in the control room.
Nico and Will share a look. "So… in basics…?" Will asks.
"The Doctor's robot apparently doesn't hate me, he, the Doctor, and I have a contract to keep us driving each other up the walls, and I fortunately haven't said anything stupid. I think." Alison said.
"You think?" Nico raises an eyebrow.
"I'm 99.999 percent sure." Alison said.
"Good enough for me." Will says cheerfully.
"Anyways, we're probably going somewhere. I walked in on the two plotting a course to….. somewhere. Are you alright to go or do you wanna stay here?" she asked.
"We'll go." Will says, looking at Nico happily. Nico nods in agreement.
"Chipper!" Alison said. They chatted for a few minutes and then the Doctor burst in on them, saying they were going to the Library. "We're in the Library right now." Alison said. "Yes, but we're going to the Library. Biggest one in the universe!" he said.
Will perks and Nico groans. "You shouldn't have said that…"
"I just did say it. Why should I have not said it?" he asked. "Anyways, we've landed. Come on!"
Wil perks and follows like an excited puppy.
The TARDIS had landed on a balcony overlooking miles and miles of shelves. The Doctor opened up the TARDIS doors, allowing Alison to rush out in delight, bouncing up and down in excitement. This was practically heaven.
Will was just as excited, giggling softly as he rushes forward, grabbing the nearest book and beginning to read.
"Nico, come on!" the Doctor said. "And you too, Master, you're going to love this." he added. "I extended the power out from the TARDIS so you can basically go anywhere on the planet. I thought, well, you've been stuck in the TARDIS for so long and-oh!" the Doctor was pulled back inside the TARDIS. Alison couldn't see what was going on, but it was probably snogging. She rolled her eyes, and decided to look for a sign telling them where they were.
Nico hums as he looks around at the different books. He sighs softly and runs his hands along their spines.
"Doctor, it's been five minutes. I don't want to come in there and finding you doing anything…. inappropriate…. but I will drag you out if I have to!" Alison warned. Seconds later, both the Doctor and the Master walked out, the Doctor obviously not wanting to be dragged out of that blue box by an annoyed Alison and his robot companion simply wanting to get outside. "Alright, alright!" the Doctor put his hands up in mock surrender.
Will and Nico talk excitedly about a certain book, Nico smiling for the first time in quite a while. He was holding a simple looking book, but he held it like pure treasure.
"Alright, what's happened this time." Allison asked. "Nothing's happened. Why would you say that?" the Doctor asked. "Okay, for many reasons. First of all, you never visit libraries. You're always around the action, and there's nearly always running involved. Unless we're tied up, which also happens commonly. And secondly, the robot has left the TARDIS, which you obviously are opposed to, given the obvious history between you two implying that he's evil enough to deserve what could only be described as a really weird version of house arrest. Furthermore, this place is silent. There isn't anyone here! You'd probably have someone coming up telling us to tone it down if we were, but look! No-one!" Alison said. "I'm not stupid you know! Remember our contract, we have an honesty policy! " the Doctor sighed, Alison was right. She wasn't stupid. And they did have a contract. He held up a leather wallet, inside was a blank white piece of paper. It said, "Come to the library, you still owe me a favor." and was signed with a strange circular marking. "Old friend, bit of a social call. But you're right, this place it too quiet." the Doctor concluded.
Nico and will we're conversing quietly, Nico gently running a hand on the spine and cover of the book. Will hugs him gently as the other leaned into his touch, a quiet sigh escaping Nico's lips.
"Alright, let's go find the nearest computer terminal. 51st century, they're pretty much every few yards." the Doctor said, walking down the hallway. "I suggest we follow him, Miss Cheney. Who knows what troube he might get in without us?" the Master said. The two followed the Doctor, and Alison waved for Will and Nico to follow.
Will and Nico follow after, Nico humming softly as Will looks around.
They reach a dark room, windows casting sunbeams every few feet. They seemed to be to only source of light. The Doctor came up to a computer terminal and began to scan it with his sonic screwdriver. "If I do a scan looking for your basic humanoids, you know, your average book-readers, apart from us, I get nothing. See, nobody home. But if I widen the parameters to any kind of life a million million." the Doctor said. "Gives up after that. A million million. But there's nothing here. There's no one. And not a sound. A million million life forms and silence in the library." he said. "Now, my question to you: how could there be that many life forms, and none of them human. Better yet, how are there that many life forms? If they're really that big, the Library wouldn't hold them all!" Alison had no idea what the Doctor was babbling on about. "Unless, of course, the life forms were small enough." the Master pointed out. "Microscopic beings, smaller than the eye can see. Master, you're brilliant!" the Doctor said. "It comes naturally." the Master replied. "Welcome!" a voice from behind them said. The Doctor and Alison both looked around to see some sort of statue with a human face, or at least what looked like one, on where a statue's face would normally be. I am Courtesy Node 710/Aqua. Please enjoy the library and respect the personal access codes of all your fellow readers, regardless of species or hygiene taboo." the Node said. "Wait, that's a face. A real, human face." Alison said, shocked.
(Also, good morning!)
Will and Nico allow the doctor and Alison to talk. Will starts, "It's almost like an Automaton…" He says to Nico. Nico nods in agreement, looking a little wary.
"Additional. There follows a brief message from the head librarian for your urgent attention. It has been edited for tone and content by Felman Lux Automated Decency Filter. Message follows. Run. For God's sake, run. No way is safe. The Library has sealed itself, we can't… Oh, they're here. Arg. Slarg. Snick. Message ends. Please switch off your mobile comm units for the comfort of other readers." the Node said, monotone. "Doctor, we haven't come just for the joy of reading, have we?" Alison asked. The Doctor ignored her. "Are there any additional messages, same date stamp?" he asked. "One additional message. This message carries a Felman Lux coherency warning of 5, 0, 11…" the Node was interrupted. "Yeah, yeah, fine, fine, fine, just play it." the Doctor said. "Message follows. Count the shadows. For God's sake, remember… if you want to live, count the shadows. Message ends." the Node said, still monotone. "Alison, Will, Nico? Do something for me, will you? Stay out of the shadows." the Doctor said.
Nico glances at him, "Normally shadows are my source of power, but I'm going to stay away from these." He replies.
"Did you know that every species in the universe has an irrational fear of the dark?" the Master asked. "I see where you're going with this, Master. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet." the Doctor said.
"I love the dark, actually." Nico mutters, rolling his eyes.
