"Then you're rather irregular. But it's not the dark you're afraid of, it's-" the Master was cut off by the lights going off down the hall where they entered. "Run! Now!" the Doctor said, pointing down another hallway.
One on one? (Closed!)
Will nods and grabs Nico's hand, along with Alison's.
They ran down the hall, coming up to a door. The Doctor tried to open it, but the door was jammed. "Jammed! The wood's warped!" the Doctor said. "Sonic it, use the thingy!" Alison snapped. "I can't, it's wood!" the Doctor replied. What, it doesn't do wood?!" Alison sassed. "Wait, if I can vibrate the molecules, fry the bindings, I can shatterline the interface…" the Doctor said. "Oh, get out of the way!" Alison kicks the door open, they then burst into the room, shut the door and use a book to bolt it. "Dearest Doctor, I truly hope I'm wrong in my assumptions and we merely ran away from a power cut, otherwise we're stuck with no TARDIS to escape." the Master said.
Nico looks at Will and nods. Will focuses and light flows through his hands and through the room.
"Nice door skills, Alison." the Doctor said, impressed. "Yeah, well, you know, boyfriends… sometimes you need the element of surprise." Alison said. A robotic voice from the PA system said, "Reminder. The Library has been breached. Others are coming." it continues to play the message on repeat. Suddenly, humanoid figures in space suits burst through another door. One walked up to the Doctor, pulling up the visit on it's helmet. "Hello, Theta." a middle-aged woman said, grinning. "Ushas?" the Doctor asked. "That's the Rani to you. Thanks for getting my message." she said, taking off her helmet and tying up her bushy red hair. "You still owe me, after you, you know, made me use up a regeneration?" she smirked.
Will looks at them. "Guys. I can't hold this light forever. Can we get moving."
"Don't worry, we have torches." the woman, apparently either "The Rani" or "Ushas" said. She took an electric torch out of her bag and tossed it to the Doctor. "And if it isn't Koschei, apparently…. an android now." she smirked. "Still clinging onto your continued existence, huh? That is so you." she said. "That's the Master to you. What are you doing at this point in time and space, Rani?" the Master asked. "Oh, just this and that. It's rather interesting, working with carnivores such as these, but… enlightening." she said. "Now, how did you end up travelling with Theta, in an android body no less, might I ask?" the Rani asked. "Long story involving an accident with the Eye Of Harmony." the Master said. "Alright, who are you and how do you know these two?" Alison asked. "Old school friend. Interesting way for a class reunion." the Doctor said, examining another computer terminal. "Miss Rani, I thought you said we would be the only expedition!" another of the suited forms said. "I lied, bound to be others." the Rani replied, setting her bag down and sorting through it.
Will rolls his eyes, continuing to allow light to spread from his hands, sighing softly, "I never cared for flashlights. They… die."
The Doctor looked up at the skylight and down to where the light was being cast down. "Alright everyone. I need you all to move into the light. Find a bright spot and just stand. Your lives are in danger, do you hear me? And I really dislike it when people go and be foolish and die on me." he said. "Professor, who are these people?" a woman asked, taking off her helmet. "Well, the android and the ridiculously dressed man are some old friends, and I suppose these three are his travelling companions. Relax, Anita, I trust these people with… well, I don't exactly trust them but they know what they're doing, probably." the Rani said. "Miss Evangelista, I want to see the contracts." a man said, popping off his helmet as well.
Nico instantly stands next to Will who continues to seep light. Will's eyes are closed as his hands spread.
"You don't have to keep doing that, Will. There's light in here already." Alison said.
"I know, but it makes it easier for me to call on it later." Will answers, smiling at her. Nico shrugs, "Apollo stuff. I don't get it either."
"Miss Evangelista, I'm Mr Lux's, erm, personal everything. You need to sign these contracts agreeing that your individual experience inside the library are the intellectual property of the Felman Lux Corporation." a young woman said, holding out a clipboard to the group. "Lovely, give it here." Alison said. The Doctor and Alison took the contracts and ripped them into two, throwing the remains of the contracts off to the sides.
Nico and Will share a look and smile a little. These two certainly were interesting.
"My family built this library! I have rights!" Mr. Lux squaked angrily. "You, sir, have a mouth that won't stop." Alison said. "Listen, something came to this library, oh, hundred years ago? It seemingly killed everyone in it. So shut up and stay out of the shadows." the Doctor said. "What the hell is in the shadows?" Miss Evangelista asked, on the verge of being terrified. "I don't think I want to know." the Doctor said. "Everyone, stay in the light, don't let your shadows cross with any other shadows, they could be infected!"
Will and Nico nod. "Nico, best make sure you watch your ability. I know when you're angry…" Nico glances at him. "Will… I know this might sound stupid, and I might accidentally die from doing it, but I'm going to try and use my shadows against the bad ones. Back me up with light. Please." Will blinks. "W-what…?"
"Mr. Di Angelo, while I am sure you mean well, your abilities will not work. You aren't fighting against shadows, rather what is inside them." the Master said. "Care to elaborate, my dear robot?" Alison asked, slightly mockingly.
Nico shakes his head. "I don't think you understand either. You haven't met someone like me, have you? Here's the thing. My shadows are technically souls. I could send them into the shadows and see what we're up against."
"I have met halflings. Or at least that's the official Time Lord slang term for your kind. And it's Vashta Nerada. What's in the dark, always in the dark." he said. "They're the piranhas of the air. Their name literally means 'The Shadows That Melt The Flesh'." Alison rolled her eyes. "Unnecessary drama much?" she asked.
Nico looks at Will. "Maybe actual sunlight would work?" Will taps his finger. "We're going to need more than that." He shrugs.
"Master, I'm going to need help over here, I'm trying to call up the data core." the Doctor called. "If you will excuse me." the Master said, walking over to the Doctor. The Doctor muttered something, which in turn started an argument between the two in low voices. "I'm really, truly wondering if those two will ever stop squabbling." Alison said.
(You online?)
Will watches the two fight. "Reminds me of Percy and Annabeth before they got together." He snickers.
"Well they are together, as far as I can tell. The robot claims their relationship is completely platonic, but I know he's lying. I've walked in on them…. on second thought, I want your minds to stay pure." Alison said, deliberately not finishing the sentence.
Will and Nico look at each other. "We know exactly what you mean. For heaven's sake, Will is a doctor." Nico says, laughing.
"You don't know what I was going to say, and I'm not going to let you know." Alison insisted.
Will snickers. "I'm pretty sure we know what it is." He elbows Nico. Nico turns a bright red. "I hate you."
"Yeah, can we not discuss this?" Alison asked.
(It's, erm, been a while since you last posted on here….)
