Nico nods. "Agreed."
Sorry. Home issues.//
(Oh, you alright?) "Alright, fine. Just get it over with quickly." the Master said, rolling up a sleeve. The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and opened a panel in the Master's arm, taking out some sort of plug and sticking it into a socket. The screen turned on, showing a young girl with auburn hair sitting in a living room. "Hello." she said. "….Hello?" one woman, Anita, said. "Are you in my television?" the girl said. "Well, no, I'm in space, of the outer variety. I was trying to call up the data core of a Triple-Grid Security Processor." the Doctor said. "Would you like to speak to my dad?" the girl asked. "Erm, your dad or your mum, that would be lovely." Anita said. "I know you. You were in my library!" the girl said, pointing at the screen accusingly. "The library's never been on television before. What have you done?" she asked. The picture suddenly faded out of view. "Damn, we'll have to try something else. Master, just stay plugged in for now. Rani, get your team working on those lights. Alison, Will, Mr. Lux, with me." the Doctor ordered.
Nico takes Will's hand. "What am I supposed to do?" He asks determination obvious in his face.
"Stand off to the side, I suppose. Just remember, not a foot, not even a finger in the shadows!" the Doctor said.
Will glares at the doctor. "He comes with us. Or I'm not going at all."
"Fine, stay then. I'm not even leaving the bleeding room, so feel free to stamp your foot and throw a tantrum. Seriously, feel free. Knock yourself out. Actually, it might even be better if you did just that. Anyways, where were we? Ah, right, little girl. We need to find out who she is and-" the Doctor was cut off as books began to fly off the shelves.
Nico glares at the doctor. But he looks at Will and smiles softly. When the books begin to fly, Will thrusts his arms up, creating a force field of light.
"Is that the little girl?" Anita asked. The Doctor ran up to another man. "You, what's your name?" he asked. "Dave. Well, Other Dave, that's Proper Dave, the pilot, see? And I-" he was cut off by a book nearly hitting him on the head. "Alright, Dave, can you see where you came through?" the Doctor asked, pointing down the passage that the others came through. "Nah, I mean, I could earlier, but it's all dark now. You could barely see your hand in front of your face." he said. "Alright, Dave, seal up that door, we'll find another way out." the Doctor said. "Mr. Lux! Mr. Lux! I found something important!" Miss Evangelista said. "Later, Miss Evangelista." Mr. Lux replied. "Other Dave, why are you taking orders from him?" he added, glaring at the Doctor. "Because he doesn't want to die, Mr. Lux. Spooky, I know, but it'll get us out of here alive."
Will looks at Nico. Nico nods. "We're in this together." Will nods and looks towards the door. Apollo. Hear my plea.
The Doctor seemed to be running around the room for a few minutes, giving orders. Suddenly, from down a new corridor that had seemingly just appeared, came a scream. "Who was that?" the Doctor asked. "I think it was Miss Evangelista." Anita said, worried.
Will and Nico don't even hesitate running towards the scream.
They came into a room, where in the shadows lay a skeleton in tattered white rags. "Miss Evangelista, please state your current…." the Rani's voice echoed back from where the skeleton was sitting. "Please state your current…. oh Rassilon…… position." she was echoed by the tattered remains of the suit. Part of the collar remained intact, there was a small white box with green lights. One of the lights was already fading. "Hello? Where am I? Hello? Where am I?" Miss Evangelista's voice asked. "I'm sorry, everyone. This isn't going to be pleasant. She's ghosting." the Rani said grimly.
Will halts at the sight and Nico's eyes go wide. Will gulps softly, "What…"
"What could do that to a person in a few seconds?" Anita asked. "I've already told you, it's Vashta Nerada." the Doctor said. "Hello? Where am I?" the voice asked. "We'll be with you soon, just hold on." Anita said over her comm unit. "I can't…. why can't I? I can't….. I can't think. I can't…. why can't I? I can't….. why can't I? I…. I….. ice cream. Ice cream. Ice cre…." Miss Evangelista's voice gradually faded out. The last light went out, and the room fell silent. Shadows began moving closer to the group. "We need to get out of here!" the Doctor said, grabbing Alison's hand.
Will stand firm. "Get going. I'll cover you." He says, forming light in his hands. "Use the torches. Nico. Go with them. Use the crystal if you have to. Go." The light begins to create a giant forcefield, guiding the group.
"Like hell in leaving you behind." Alison said, dragging Will along with her. They got back to the main room, sealing the door. "Well, I suppose we'll just have to find another way out of here, shall we?" the Doctor gasped for air, it seemed that all that running around was taking it's toll on him. "We aren't leaving until the expedition is finished!" Mr. Lux said angrily.
Will squeaks when he's dragged. As they enter the room he looks around for Nico. His eyes widen. Nico wasn't there…
"Alright, let's get you unplugged." the Doctor said, coughing a bit as he made his way over to the Master, unplugging his arm from the computer terminal. "Doctor, Nico isn't here!" Alison yelped. She banged on the door, trying to get it back open. "Allow me." the Rani said, pointing a gun at the wall. She fired, and a square shaped hole appeared, allowing passage back into the, well, passage. "Make it quick." she huffed, quite obviously annoyed.
Will nods and rushes into the shadows. "NICO!?" He calls desperately. "Nico!" He croaks. "W-will…"
"Get the bloody hell out of there, you two!" Alison screamed.
Will searches desperately, light flowing from his being. "Nico!" He grabs the smaller boy, picking him up before rushing towards the opening.
"Come on!" Alison pulled them out. The Rani shot the wall again, closing it up. "And this is why I detest being forced to work with carnivores." she spat.
"Lucky for you I'm vegan." Will mutters, running a hand through Nico's hair.
"What's a vegan?" the Rani asked. Alison rolled her eyes, walking over to the Doctor. "Okay, what the hell were you thinking? Nico could have died!" she shouted. "Sorry… cough… not intentional…" the Doctor choked out. "My dear Doctor, perhaps you should sit down." the Master said, helping stand the Doctor up and move him over to one of the desks in the room. Truly a beautiful partnership. One moment they want to kill each other, the next…. I don't even know what. Alison thought.
Will holds Nico, his eyes shut. Nico holds the other back, breathing heavily. He clings to Will for warmth and comfort.
"Master…. my, er….. huffer…. left pocket." the Doctor gasped. The Master handed the Doctor a blue inhaler, which the Doctor took a long puff out of. "Oh sweet Rassilon, that's much better." he said, finally breathing normally. "Are you two going to be alright?" the Doctor asked, walking over to Will and Nico.
Nico shook, his eyes wide. He had never been so scared of the dark. He was called the prince of darkness. Will continues to hold him, shushing him gently.
"That's Vashta Nerada for you. You're lucky you made it out alive, but I suppose you'd be a tougher meal considering the shadow abilities." the Doctor speculated.
Will nods. "You used the crystal?" he asks. Nico shakes his head, still holding onto Will.
