"My sisters…." the TARDIS said mournfully.
One on one? (Closed!)
Nico looks at the junkyard, his eyes unseeing.
"We need to get out of here." the TARDIS said. "How?! I'm a madman with a box without a box in case you haven't noticed! And I'm stuck in this stultus senex humus nimia cumulus!" he shouted. "I like it when you get angry in Latin." the TARDIS said, picking up a mirror from the ground and looking at her reflection.
Nico growls. "I can understand Latin, thank you." He mumbles. He sighs quietly and looks at the ground. It was Bianca… his sister. She had died in a junkyard. He sighs and looks towards them. "Now what?"
"Oh… I got it! This isn't any old junkyard, this is…. a TARDIS junkyard! Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Sexy?" he asked the TARDIS. "I think that this is where many of my sisters have been consumed by flame, and we are looking at their corpses." she said.
Nico raises an eyebrow. "Let's just do this."
"Not what I was thinking actually." the Doctor said. "No, you were thinking that you could build a working TARDIS console out of the remnants of hundreds of different models." she said, looking at the Doctor. "And you don't care that it's impossible."
Nico smirks. "We work with impossible."
"Exactly. Let's get going, you sexy thing." he smiled cheekily, grabbing the TARDIS by the hand and dragging her along.
Nico trails after, taking a breath.
A few minutes later, the Doctor was adding the finishing touches to a console surrounded by a few walls, one open as they couldn't find a door. "Ah, and that's it! Absolute prodigiosus!" he muttered, punching in coordinates.
Nico bites his lip, helping somewhat, but what could he do, his mind was on his sisters death.
The Doctor took off, but all that happened was a few sparks flew from the console, burning his hand. "This should work. It has to." the Doctor muttered. "Bond the tube directly into the Tachyon Diverter." the TARDIS said. "Yes, yes, I have actually rebuilt a TARDIS before, you know. I know what I'm doing." the Doctor replied, fiddling with the console. "You're like a nine year old trying to rebuild a motorbike in his bedroom. And you never read the instructions." the TARDIS said. "I always read the instructions. It's what I do primarily." he snapped back. "There's a sign on my front door. You have been walking past it for over nine hundred years. What does it say?" she asked. "Oh, don't play coy. That's not instructions." the Doctor argued. "There's an instruction at the bottom. What does it say?" "Pull to open." the Doctor replied. "Yes. And what do you do?" "I push!" the Doctor said angrily. "Every single time. Nine hundred years. Police Box doors open out the way." she said, miming pulling the doors open. "I think I have earned the right to open my front doors any way I want." the Doctor said. "Your front doors? Have you any idea how childish that sounds?" the TARIDS asked. "You are not my mother." the Doctor said. "And you are not my child." "You know, since we're talking with mouths, not really an opportunity that comes along very often, I just want to say, you know, you have never been very reliable." he pressed an accusing finger to her chest. "And you have?" "You didn't always take me where I wanted to go." the Doctor pointed out. "No, but I always took you where you needed to go." "You did. Look at us talking. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could always talk, even when you're stuck inside the box?" the Doctor asked. "You know I'm not constructed that way. I exist across all space and time, and you talk and run around and bring home strays." Idris buckles at the knees. The Doctor catches her. "You okay?" "One of the kidneys has already failed, and now the liver is going too. It doesn't matter. We need to finish assembling the console." she pointed out.. "Using a console without a proper shell. It's not going to be safe." "This body has about eighteen minutes left to live. The universe we're in will reach absolute zero in three hours, it was collapsing when we arrived. Safe is relative." she said. "Then we need to get a move on. Eh, old girl?" the Doctor asked.
Nico watches them interact. He was tired and he was having to many flashbacks.
The Doctor finished fiddling with the console. "It won't work. I need an extra boost of power." the Doctor said. "You have it." the TARDIS replied, allowing a hand to light up wit golden ribbons of some sort of ethereal flame. She touched it to the console and suddenly, they took off. "Oh, old girl, you're brilliant!" the Doctor said.
Nico starts and looks around nervously, biting his lip as the box takes off.
They landed right in front of the Doctor's TARDIS, which was high up on a pedestal of some sort. A beam of bright white light streamed from it. "Ah!" the TARDIS said, nearly collapsing again. "We need to find our dear Miss Cheney." the TARDIS said.
He nods. "And Will. And Cece." He says softly.
"That's what I said. But yes, Will too." the TARDIS said quietly.
Nico nods, fear coursing within him. Where was Will?
The Doctor helped stand his TARDIS up. "We need to find the others. We are there in five minutes." she said. "Ah, then better not waste any time, eh?" the Doctor asked.
Nico nods and sighs a little bit, running hand through his hair.
They sneaked down the corridors, there were more patrols than they had seen earlier so it was much more difficult. Suddenly, another group of guards came past, and the Doctor shoved them all into a nearby closet. Something that felt very solid hit the back of the Doctor's head. "Ouch!" he yelped. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry Doctor! I thought you were… how did you escape?" Alison asked, lowering her shoe that she had used to deal that painful blow.
Nico gasps when he's grabbed around the neck. "Will?" He asks. "Nico? Doctor? Oh thank god!" Will hugs Nico from behind and Nico smiles a little.
"Long story, it'll take too long to explain. We need to go, now." the Doctor said.
Nico nods, grabbing Will's hand. "Let's get going."
"This regeneration of the Rani is particularly unpleasant." the Doctor noted. "Uh, you think?" Alison asked. "This is no time to argue, let's get out of this stupid closet and get out of this stupid lab!" Cece hissed, leading them outside.
Will and Nico nod, both demigods glad to be back at each other's side. Both looked tired and work out.
They got to the TARDIS, or at least the ship part of it. The Doctor ran inside, and the others followed. "We need to shut off the Eye! Now I see what the old girl meant, the Rani is powering something with it. If we don't shut it off, it'll blow the planet to pieces!"
Will and Nico nod. "Tell us what to do." Will says sternly.
