Ram was only two years old when his mother died and his family was forced onto the streets. The indignities of growing up poor and homeless traumatized him, and he vowed that he would one day be rich so that he would never have to face such horrors ever again.

At the tender age of three years old, Ram discovered lying, and soon after realized that telling the right lies to the right people would get them to give him their money. He used a combination of his age, his childish charm, and his own skills to convince and scam as much money as possible out of people wealthier than him, often playing into their compassion for dirty, sad-looking homeless children. Almost nothing is sacred to him, and he was willing to lie about anything for money, from having a sick mother or a father in prison, to pretending to be a frail and blind old woman's grandson to fleece money off of her.

At nine, Erin was sick of Ram's antics and forced him to attend Link's early morning training class for the young boys of his knights. Ram was terrible at the training, not helped by the fact that he was bullied by General Leo's spoiled brat of a nephew for being low-class. However, when Prince Theodore stepped in to defend him, Ram saw an opportunity of a lifetime. Seeing how well being close to Princess Elleen worked out for his sister, Ram decided cozy up to Prince Theodore for yet another scam. Link cottoned on to Ram's scheme almost immediately, but saw how much Theo liked him, so Link decided that the best way to keep Ram out of trouble was to have him stick close to his youngest son.

Despite his best efforts, Ram came to see the young prince as a genuine friend and decided to become his courtier for reasons other than for money. Not long into their friendship, Ram met Nababa, a.k.a. his match. Nababa whipped Ram into shape even though she was only half Ram's age, and all three of them became good friends and partners.
