Being a noble, Arcturus received extensive education from the best tutors money could buy. From Calculus to Monster Biology and Anatomy. You name it, he knows it.

Arcturus was born of the union between a human mother, Anna Kiehn, and an angel father, Sero Jupitronus.

Anna Kiehn had a loveless marriage with the lord of House Kiehn of Gidden and found love with an angel man who had come as an emissary of the gods to the kingdom. Anna had an affair with Sero and found herself pregnant with an angelic child.

When the Lord of House Kiehn, Edward Kiehn, found out about Anna's pregnancy, he agreed not to divorce her, as he knew they both shared no love for one another, and he himself had had numerous affairs. All of Edwards' children were from a previous marriage and had grown to love Anna as their mother.

On the day of Arcturus' birth, Sero went to visit Anna, who named the newborn Arcturus. Anna opted to give Arcturus the surname of Kiehn, to minimize the chances of him being the outcast of his family. Arcturus ended up being hated by his siblings his entire life.

Edward treated Arcturus a lot harsher than his children, setting high and outrageous expectations on the angelic boy. Edward would only continue to set higher and higher expectations for Arcturus as he continued to meet and exceed all of them. By the time Arcturus was 7, he was already surpassing his much older siblings in academics and in athletics. This same year, Arcturus' younger sister Vylana was born. Being of the same mother as Arcturus, Vylana was the only one of Arcturus' siblings that saw him as a brother and not competition for their parents' admiration.

When Arcturus was 12, Edward enrolled him in a military academy against his mother's wishes. There, Arcturus climbed to the top of his class, and the top of the entire academy. His attitude towards his instructors and professors wasn't tasteful in the slightest. He often talked back and argued with his seniors at the academy, and his disliking of them only grew his disregard for authority. Arcturus graduated top of his class at the age of 16, returning home to much praise from his mother and jealousy from his older siblings. When he learned of Vylana's death, Arcturus lashed out against his oldest sibling, Jarden, who was the one who ordered only a handmaiden to accompany Vylana on her trip to the menagerie. Arcturus nearly killed Jarden by grabbing him by the throat and throwing him across the room and through a wall. His other siblings were quick to rush to Jarden and help him get away from Arcturus. The following day, Edwards almost banished him from House Kiehn, but Anna begged him not to, and so saved her son's reputation.

Arcturus joined the Gidden armed forces, quickly moving up the ranks. When he was 21, he met Hekket of Setting Sun at the yearly Festival of The Isles, a weeklong event that took place on an island halfway between the kingdoms of Gidden and Akkadia. The final event of the week was a gladiatorial match between each kingdom's strongest warrior. The battle was the fiercest of any previous set of matches, but in the end, it ended in a draw. Over the next 6 years, however, the pair would swap their victories and become close friends.
