Grew up a slave of House Burning Star in the demon realm of Infer-A like her mother before her, and her mother before that, and so on for 6 generations before Jirain was born. Jirain escaped to the mortal realm at the age of 12 where she has lived ever since.

She is a graduate of the Gensyn City University Advanced Mysticism Program

Jirain was born into slavery in the Burning Star clan. Being a female, Jirain was not eligible for forced military service from a young age and was thus put to work as a servant from the moment she could carry plates of food and clean floors. Jirain’s father, the head of the Burning Star clan, had her mother killed for attempting to escape slavery at the age of 19, Jirain had just turned 5. That should tell you all there needs to be said about Jirain’s fate.

At the age of 9, Jirain’s glyphs appeared on her hands. Glyphs are intricate circular symbols that are used to access magical abilities, they are unique to each demon, like a second set of fingerprints. Jirain had two glyphs, one on the back of each hand, whereas normally demons only had one glyph on the back of their non-dominant hand. This proved disastrous for Jirain as double glyphs coincided with her having the highest measured magical output of any demon ever.

She was doubled down on with work, and as she reached the age of 10, her youthful beauty drew in the preying eyes of the most disgusting men of the house Burning Star, including her own father. She was to be a “chambermaid” for the next 2 years of her life until her escape at the age of 12 to attend the ritual Arya of Setting Sun was performing to send Hekket and Jirain to the mortal realm. On her sprint out of that hellhole of a fortress, in fear, she tapped into her massive magical reserves and the fortress was reduced to almost nothing along with most of its inhabitants. She arrived at the ritual covered in dirt, dust, and some blood.

When she made it to the mortal realm, she began studying her magical potential while wandering the mountains and woods of Meladina until she reached civilization. When she did, she was treated at a hospital and then remained there in their extended care unit for 3 years undergoing physical therapy and psychological treatment. While there, the nurses tutored her on multiple topics and found Jirain to have a genius-level intellect which was apparent through her extremely intricate usage of advanced magical techniques before any proper training.

After this 3-year time at the hospital, Jirain joined society, attending a boarding school for magically gifted individuals, at which she graduated top of her class, for obviously unfair reasons (she was better at magic than all her peers and teachers). Now 18, Jirain had a scholarship to Gensyn City University’s Academy of Magic Arts and so moved to Gensyn City, the capital of the Kingdom of Akkadia. Here she was reunited with Hekket after not seeing each other for 6 years. They told each other their stories and continued being best friends.

Flash forward another 6 years and Jirain is as fun-loving and quirky as ever, never letting the past get the better of her. She helps Hekket with his anxiety on the daily and makes sure he is eating, sleeping, and taking care of himself when he goes through especially bad depressive episodes. She currently works as a Professor at Gensyn City University. Her wardrobe is ever-changing as she shops seasonally, but she can often be spotted wearing tight-fitting pants, T-shirts (Crew, V, or Scoop, she loves them all), and cardigans, but she loves dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, and anything and everything in between. But of course, she rocks the sweatpants and big tee to sleep.

Characteristic of her being a demon, Jirain has fair skin, red eyes, and jet-black hair. She styles her hair in too many ways to count, but her go-to is a ponytail with two bangs in the front. Jirain has no spirit weapon, uncharacteristic of demons, and very rare. Jirain’s caring nature is always on display as she treats her students with the warmth and understanding she never got.
