Description

Elemental spirits are creatures that contain the essence of the element they belong to. They are drawn to areas that have a large amount of elemental magic present.

Type of creature

Elemental

pets

Looks

Shape

Between all elemental spirits, they have a mask on their head which indicates what element they are drawn to. Aside from that, spirits are varied as they come. They take the form of animals that are associated with the element they are drawn to (such as a Shadow spirit taking the form of a bat).

Traits

Aggressiveness

Elemental spirits are not known to be aggressive, but they can be angered or startled.

Any kind of elemental spirit can be angered by disrupting their resting grounds in some sort of major way. Spirits that're more shy may resort to violence if something gets too close to them.

Method of attack

When angered, spirits utilize both physical and magical attacks.

Methods of defense

Spirits can become incorporeal, which takes care of physical methods of entrapment. Depending on the kind of magic they are faced with, spirits can either absorb magic, weakening its effect; or unleash magic stored within their bodies. The latter method is more disruptive to the spirit, however.

Strengths

Spirits employ a variety of attacks when angered, making them daunting foes for the unprepared and physical fighters.

Spirits are also able to effectively nullify magical attacks by absorbing them. This is on the condition that the magic attack used is the same element of magic that the spirit consumes.

Weaknesses

Because elemental spirits are beings of pure magic, getting them to use magic effectively means they are drawing from their own life source. The strength of a spirit's magic is also dependent on its environment. Drawing a spirit out from where it resides is key to defeating one.

Spoils

When a spirit dies, its body dissipates, leaving a cloud of magical energy behind. Because this cloud of energy is actually composed of physical particles, some dragons harvest these clouds to make Spirit Dust.

Habitat

Preferred habitat

Elemental spirits prefer areas that have a high amount of magical energy present. This area is usually in their element's corresponding flight, but occasionally spirits can be drawn towards areas where many spells were cast, such as a battlefield.

Symbolisms

It is sometimes believed that elemental spirits are able to be born as a dragon's reincarnation. This is due to the phenomenon of spirits spawning in places like battlefields or other areas of mass death.
