Rituals
The Opening Toast (Most Common)
“Sarala, Queen of the Bright Hour,
look upon this gathering and make it worthy.
Let the wine flow,
let the music rise,
and let no one leave unchanged.
If this night must end,
let it end too late.”
The Masked Invitation
“Sarala, let me be more than I am tonight.
Let me be seen,
let me be wanted,
let me be remembered.
And when the mask falls—
let them wish it hadn’t.”
he Morning After Plea
“Sarala… Queen of Last Night, hear me now.
Take the pounding from my head,
soften the weight in my bones,
and dull the sharp edge of what I chose.
Leave me the laughter,
leave me the warmth,
but take the rest as your due.
I will rise again—
and I will return to you.”
The Commoner’s Morning-After Prayer
“Sarala, you’ve had your fun—now have a little mercy.
Take this hammer out of my skull,
put my stomach back where it belongs,
and let me walk straight enough to lie about last night.
You can keep the bad decisions—
just leave me the good parts.
I’ll be wiser next time…
(we both know I won’t).”
Short Street Version (Very Common)
“Sarala, ease the head,
settle the gut,
and I’ll see you again tonight.”
The Masked Becoming (Celebrated)
Purpose:
To shed identity and embrace indulgence
Practice:
Participants wear:
elaborate masks
Names are:
not used
During the ritual:
people act without:
social constraint
status boundaries
Crafting of parasols, wearing party masks, attempting to outdo the festival planners of last year
it is wildly assumed that Sarala visits every festival, and while she certainly tries the easiest way to know if she did is by how long it lasts and how well it is remembered, Sarala prefers to remain anonymous throughout whatever festivity she is at only revealing herself to mortals who have earned her direct blessing or bane, she is particularly fond the many food stalls that pop up and carnival games, although in recent years she always seems to be found at festivals with the same person getting him to win her prizes and the like
History
kidnapped by Kroloss in his attempt to become a member of the Stanzgarian pantheon, she is said to have found the whole thing rather dull, but the two of them still seemed to get along well enough to marry and have a daughter
Notes
Sarala loves adventurers and heaps gifts and boons on them, for heroes tend to get festivals, parades and parties in their honor
somewhat estranged with her husband Sarala's can best be described as a demanding shrew in regards to her marriage, but she really does love Kroloss
