Davin looked at him. "You shouldn't drink too much tonight." he said softly. "Really." he sighed, shaking his head.

"I know my limits, but thanks for the concern," Tohru replied, "I'll make sure I drink little enough that I don't get hungover or anything."
"Alright." Davin replied simply, looking down at his hands for a moment. He took a deep breath, shaking his head slightly. He didn't know what to talk about, since Tohru seemed to be in a bad mood right now.

Tohru's hands were shaking as he looked back at his device.
"What'd you get?" he asked, just trying to make small talk at this point.
He didn't want things to be more tense than they already were.
"Oh. Uhm. A burger." he replied with a faint laugh. "With a salad side. What about you?" he ran a hand through his hair, letting out a slow, soft breath.
group
"They have noodles and broth with vegetables," Tohru said, "So I got that."
The waitress placed Tohru's next drink on the table, and he thanked her, then started sipping on it. His mind was feeling a tiny bit fuzzy, but he was still more than sober enough to be tense and scared.
"Ah. That does sound good." Davin replied, watching Tohru drink. "Are you alright, Tohru? You seem…on edge." he studied Tohru, biting his lip a little bit.
group
"I'm on edge, yes," Tohru sighed, "but I'm not sure what's going on. I'm just stressed, I think…"
He swirled his drink around, listening to the ice clink against the side of the glass.
"I'll get over it."
"Okay. If there's anything I can do, let me know." he said, taking a sip of his own drink.
group
“I appreciate it,” Tohru said, “I… really do.”
He drank a bit more of his own drink.
By now, a pleasant numbness had started settling over him.
"Good. And…maybe that should be your last drink, Tohru." Davin said, hoping the food would arrive soon.
group
“That’s only two,” he said, “I’ll take one more maybe, but I’ll wait if it makes you feel better.”
Tohru felt a little more relaxed at this point, and a little warm inside.
“Heh, why you gotta worry about me so much?”
"Please do wait." Davin replied. "And I worry because you're my roommate now." he took a sip of his water, looking at Tohru through calm amber eyes.
group
“Yeah, I guess we’re kind of stuck together now, and it would suck if anything happened to the other,” Tohru admitted.
He giggled a bit.
“Roommates… it’s nice to have someone to live with for once.”
He was to the point of being tipsy. It wouldn’t have been super obvious to a bystander, but Davin could probably tell.
He raised an eyebrow at the giggle. "Yeah. You're gonna wait for your third drink, Tohru." he shook his head slightly.
group
“Alright, alright,” he said, leaning back in his chair.
With that, the waitress came out with her tray and served them their food. Tohru hungrily dug in.
Davin took a big bite of his food, closing his eyes. "Mm." he chewed and swallowed, a soft smile pulling at his lips.
group
“Wow, this is really good,” Tohru hummed happily through a mouthful of noodles.
He looked to Davin.
“How’s yours?”
"'s good." Davin replied, taking a sip of water and then eating some more of his burger. "We should come back here some time."
group
“For sure,” Tohru agreed, “That was a lucky choice honestly.”
He slurped up a few noodles from his bowl, some of the broth dripping down his chin. Tohru sloppily wiped it off and laughed to himself.
He nodded, and let out a quiet laugh at the sight of the broth. "Mhm. Definitely a lucky choice." he replied with a nod.
group
Tohru tapped his fingers on the table and went back to his non-alcoholic drink, which he had barely touched up to this point.
Davin hummed for a moment, taking a sip of water and then going back to his food.
group
“Oh, wait…” Tohru muttered, “Do we need to do any shopping before we go home?”
He continued eating.
Davin thought for a moment. "Uhm…probably. We need to buy blankets and sheets for the bed and stuff." he said. "At least. Maybe some other stuff too."
group
“Alright, well I’ll not take that third drink at all,” he chuckled, “I don’t want to make my mark as the town drunk.”
He laughed softly at that. "Yeah, that wouldn't be a great first impression." he said with a nod, taking a bite of food.
group
Tohru smiled a little at Davin.
“Sorry I was so touchy earlier,” he said, tracing the rim of his glass with his finger.
"It's fine. I get it." Davin replied, waving a dismissive hand and taking a sip of his water. "I can be touchy sometimes too, believe it or not."
group
“I mean… it’s understandable,” Tohru replied.
Before he knew it, he was done with his meal. He patiently waited for the waitress to come back with the check, pulling out his wallet and setting it on the table.
