"Yeah." Davin replied. "Mainly because…I don't know. I don't have enough pictures of home, and I can't…it's not like I can just go get more. What I've got are…are what I've got." his eyes flickered slightly, and he rubbed his face. "I don't know. I guess I'm just preserving this in time. So that…so that if it happens again…there will be memories of what it was like."

"Must be difficult. I'm sorry," Tohru said, flashing Davin a look of sympathy, "Well, look… I don't know if you actually want me around, but if you do, I'm here to stay for as long as I possibly can."
He cast a fragile smile.
Davin smiled a bit in return. "It…it'd be nice to have company, yeah." He replied with a soft smile. "So…thanks."
group
"Of course. It's the least I could do," Tohru replied. He lead Davin into the restaurant, where there was a sign saying to seat yourself.
The dining room was fairly empty at the time. A couple of stray groups sat down, but most of the place was open.
"Where did you want to sit?"
Davin shrugged. "By a window?" He replied, looking over at Tohru. He couldn't handle small spaces very well anymore. This wasn't a small space, but he still preferred to be by a window.
group
"Yeah, sure," Tohru replied, gesturing towards a table for two in the corner.
Two menus sat on the table, and Tohru sat down and opened one.
Davin sat down, picking up a menu and thumbing through it. He wished he could take his hood off, but…he didn't feel comfortable doing that.
group
Tohru licked his lips at the thought of food, especially since he smelled just about everything coming from the kitchen.
He looked through the menu, occasionally looking back up, when a waitress came up.
"Hi, how are you two doing? Can I get you started with drinks?"
Tohru nodded and smiled.
"Doing well. Could I get some carbonated water and… um… let's see, you got gin and tonic?"
The waitress nodded and looked to Davin. "And you?"
"Just some water, please." Davin replied with a quick smile. He was starving, but…he just wanted water. No alcohol for now.
group
The waitress nodded and walked away.
"So uh… how're you holding up? Just overall, I mean. Still sorry about everything…"
He picked up his device to see he had a message and frowned a bit.
Davin shrugged his shoulders slightly. "I'm…I don't know. Fine, most times." he replied. He looked at Tohru, running a hand through his hair.
group
"If you're not…"
Tohru took in a breath.
"You can- you know you can tell me, right?"
He shakily opened his messages. A message from his employer.
"Fucking hell…"
"I'm okay. It's nothing that I haven't been dealing with for years." he replied, waving a hand. At the curse, he cocked his head. "You alright?"
group
"Yeah, it's just… they're starting to ask where I am. I think it's probably best I drop off the face of the universe, yeah?" Tohru asked nervously, tapping his fingers on the table, "Whatever, it's fine… Look, it doesn't matter if it's been years, it still sucks, you know?"
He nodded a little bit. "Right. Be careful." he replied with a soft smile. At that, he shook his head. "Yeah, but there isn't anything you can do about it. It's just…it's trauma, it's just fucking ingrained in my head at this point."
group
"I know, but support won't hurt," Tohru said, "I can't even imagine…"
He bit his lip a bit and settled on a menu page as he decided what he wanted to order.
"I suppose I won't press too much, though. I don't want to make things worse."
Davin looked at the menu, shaking his head. "No, you can't imagine." he replied simply. "Just…" he let out a breath. "Yeah."
group
Tohru choked a bit.
"S-sorry…" he apologized, yet again, "Sorry, I'm probably bothering you. I'll… be quiet…"
He waited for the waitress to come back, even if just to break up the awkard conversation a bit.
"It's fine, Tohru." he looked over at the other male. "I just meant…nobody else can really picture what that was like for me. What it is like. I didn't mean for you to stop talking, I just meant that it's…it's not something easily understood."
group
“Yeah… I just…” Tohru replied, suddenly becoming much more terse and meek.
He played with the pages of his menu distractedly until the waitress showed back up with drinks.
"What?" Davin asked quietly. "Oh. Thanks." he said to the waitress, then turned his attention back to Tohru. "You just what?"
group
“I don’t know…”
Tohru buried his head in his hands.
“I’ve messed things up horribly.”
He took a sip of his drink to avoid talking.
"What do you mean?" he asked, frowning a little bit. "Are we…are we not talking about the same thing right now?" the Kaythani male looked a little confused, looking over at Tohru.
group
“S-sorry… my mind is everywhere. I was with you, but… I don’t…” he held his glass in front of his mouth.
Stop talking, dumbass. You’re making things worse!
“Just ignore me…”
His eyebrows drew together. "I don't understand what you mean, Tohru." he replied plainly, studying the other.
group
“I said ignore me,” Tohru replied, a little snappy, “I don’t understand what I mean either, my guy.”
He lowered his head.
“I’m going to need a lot more to drink to get through whatever it is going through my head tonight.”
"Right, sorry." Davin replied, drawing back a little bit and taking a sip of his water. He wondered if they'd be able to order their food soon. He took a deep breath.
group
Tohru ran a rough hand through his hair. He was obviously stressed, and definitely didn't mean to be rude. Thankfully, the waitress was walking back over to take their order. She pulled out her notepad and pen before asking what they wanted.
Davin ordered his food carefully, glancing over at Tohru for just a moment, before tearing his attention away again, looking down at the table.
group
Tohru ordered next, and also asked for a second drink as he finished his first.
"Alright, I'll have that to you in a few minutes!"
"Thank you," Tohru replied, dipping his head.
He accidentally found himself staring in Davin's general direction.
