"Eh… speaking of which… do you need any medicine or more bandages for your injury?" Tohru asked, "I could grab them while I'm out if you do."
He sipped at his cup of coffee and offered some to Davin.

He sipped at his cup of coffee and offered some to Davin.
"Ah…no, I think I'm fine." He replied, taking a cup of coffee with a faint smile. "Thanks, though."

"Alright. Just message me if you do need anything before I get back," Tohru said, "Just to save us a trip."
He adjusted the top button on his shirt.
"Do I look okay? Like… presentable?" he asked.
"Of course. And….yeah. You look great." he replied with a reassuring smile, looking at Tohru.

"Okay, good. Thanks," Tohru said softly, a slight blush coming to his face.
He probably shouldn't have even asked in the first place, since it would've been ridiculous for Davin to tell him he looked like shit, even if it were true.
He smiled again, taking a sip of his coffee, tail twitching gently by his side for a moment. "Stay safe, alright?"
group
"Of course. I'll make sure to let you know how the interview goes," Tohru promised, "and y'know, try not to get stabbed or anything."
"Of course." He replied, smiling as he looked over at Tohru.

After finishing his drink, Tohru made sure he had everything he needed- his keys, his device, and a couple of other things.
"Well, I'll see you," Tohru said with a slight smile, "Have a good day."
Davin smiled back. "See you. Stay safe, good luck, and have a good day." he replied, leaning his hip against the counter as he waved to Tohru.

Tohru headed out the door and walked for a while. The streets were sort of quiet this time of day, but there were enough people out, just going about their business that he figured he wouldn't get mugged or anything like that.
He walked up and down the streets, trying to memorize the placement of different shops, clubs, and bars, among other businesses and landmarks. Sure, he could always look them up later, but it always felt much better to be familiar with an area.
Davin made himself some breakfast. Nothing fancy, just toast, and ate that while sipping at his coffee. He really hoped he could trust Tohru, because, well…he kind of already did. And he knew that that wasn't a good idea, he knew that, but…he still did. He was well-aware that Tohru could use his very existence to screw him over whenever the other male wanted to, but…he just had to hope that that didn't happen.

After walking for a bit, Tohru decided it was probably a good time to head to the bar. He walked in the front door. The room was mostly quiet, but a couple of patrons sat around, drowning their sorrows, and a tall, slender woman with a purple complexion and tattoos across her body stood behind the counter, wiping a glass clean. She looked up when she heard the door.
"What can I get you?"
"Oh, nothing to drink. I'm here for the interview. Are you guys always this short-staffed?"
"We don't really need much of anyone in the morning, but we just lost some of our staff to well- one of them quit, one got fired for stealing from the register, and the other got arrested, we think."
"Gods… I can imagine you're desperate, huh? Is my interview with you?"
"I guess so. Owner said if he was out, I could stand in for him."
"Great. What's your name?:
"Kira. And you go by Tohru?"
He nodded. "That's me."
"Where are you from?"
"I'm from Drestia, originally. But I fancy myself a traveler. I haven't been back there in years. I'm new in town here, though."
"What kind of employment have you had before?"
Tohru licked his lips. "Very little official stuff. I'm a bounty hunter, or at least, I have been in the past."
"Wait, so do you even plan to stay here? We can't just hire someone who's going to leave us."
"I'm trying to slow down a bit. Depending, I might try to stay here as long as possible. I had some bad things go down with bounty hunting recently, and I don't think I want to have to deal with that anymore."
He could remember another guy that he thought was safe at one point, remembered how that had worked out…he shook his head a little bit. No, he wouldn't think of that right now.

After a while, Tohru and the bartender drifted into easy conversation rather than an interview. He felt pretty relieved that it hadn't been anything too formal.
"Well, you seem like you work well, and can talk to the customers fine. You're hired."
Tohru shook his head.
"You really are desperate, huh? I'll gladly accept. I just need a job so I can keep having a roof over my head and good on the table, and bartending is far from the worst job I could ask for. How hard can it be?"
"Well, this place actually gets quite the rowdy crowds sometimes. But you're a bounty hunter by trade. I'm sure you can handle it just fine."
Tohru laughed. "You're joking, right?"
Kira shook her head. "Nah. It gets rough. But you need the coin, so what's it gonna be?"
"I-uh… Yeah, I guess you're right. When do I start?"
"Tonight, if you can."
"Shit, I don't know about that. I need to go home and do some things before I start. Are you-"
"Oh please, I'll be here holding your hand tonight. You'll be fine."
Tohru nodded.
"Yeah, I guess so. What time?"
"Let's say… about six. Don't be late."
Davin took a deep breath, washing out his empty coffee mug. He had left that man a long time ago. He was safe now. Or as safe as he could be, anyways.

After that, Kira gave Tohru his apron and sent him on his way.
He kept walking for a while, just to loosen up and familiarize himself with the area some more. While he was thinking about it, he messaged Davin: I got the job. They apparently had a mass exodus in the past week or so, and they're desperate for employees.
Davin jumped slightly at the ping, and checked the message. He smiled faintly. Great! Still waiting for a response for any of my applications :(

Honestly this place seems sketchy as hell, but money's money. Besides. It's only been a couple of days.
He kept walking and stopped by a little cafe, just to check it out. He'd already drank some coffee this morning, but a bit more couldn't hurt.
He stepped in the door, and the smell of pastries and coffee hit him right away.
Cute date spot, he thought to himself, Or I could hang out here with my sketchbook.
Oh, yeah? Hm. You can handle yourself tho, right? but you dont have to work there if you don't want to
Davin texted back, smiling faintly. His tail flicked slightly, brushing over the floor, and he bit his lip.
group
Yeah, wouldn't take it if I couldn't. I could prob break up a bar fight
Tohru paid for his coffee, and couldn't help but buy one of their pastries- they smelled so tempting. He made sure to get one to bring home to Davin, too.
He sat down at the bar by the window for a bit while he ate, then he took his coffee to go once he finished that. Tohru headed back to the apartment.
alright. Just so long as you don't get hurt, alright? I don't want that to happen to you
He texted back, unsure if it came across as flirting or not. Did he want it to? He had no idea.
group
Thanks for the concern but I'll be fine
He found himself blushing a little bit at the idea of someone being concerned for him.
Tohru came up to the door and unlocked it. He waved to Davin as he set his bag down.
"How's your day been so far?" he asked, "I found a cool little cafe on my way home, and I brought you a pastry back, whenever you want that, by the way."
Davin looked up, setting the phone down with a smile. "It's been fine. Oh, thanks!" He replied, coming over to Tohru.
group
"Yeah, of course," Tohru said, handing over the little paper bag.
He put on a slight smile, shaking his head.
"But yeah, the bar I'm working at is a hot mess. They just had one guy quit, another fired, and a third disappeared, and they all just assume he got arrested. Pretty crazy, honestly."
"Uh, wow." he took the bag, opening it up to peek inside. "Sounds like an…exciting work environment?" he laughed faintly, looking over at Tohru.
group
"I hope it's just that," he replied, "Exciting. And not like… dangerous or hostile. I mean, I doubt it but… would be just my luck, huh?"
He nodded a little, pulling out the pastry and taking a small bite. "Yeah. If it's dangerous, you can always quit though, right?" he raised his eyebrows a little.
group
"Shit, I mean… probably. I think they're gonna have me fill out some paperwork before I start, and if I notice anything too suspect, I can always bail before anything is legally binding."
Tohru shrugged a bit.
He nodded again, taking a bite of the pastry. "Of course. Just…stay safe, yeah?" he replied, smiling faintly.
