"Yeah, and you coulda been dead thanks t' me." Lucky said, shaking her head. She looked up at the dark clouds that seemed to be lightening slowly. It'd been quite the eventful day so far, that was for sure.
"Haven't seen ya' around here before~" (O/O) (closed)
"Didn't know ya cared so much." Estaban gave a joking grin and finally pushed to his feet. "The lad alive?" He asked as he walked out to the group surrounding the water logged man. A few nods indicated that he was indeed alive. Estaban smiled.
Lucky stood, following Estaban. She stopped at his shoulder, maybe a bit closer than she'd meant to as she looked over the man they'd almost lost. She kept quiet, having no clue what to say, even.
"Ya alright, lucky?" Estaban took a notice of how close she was. He assumed she was shaken from the sudden chaos, no matter how shot it'd been.
"Hm?" Lucky looked up, blinking at him. "Yeah, 'm fine. I should really be asking you that, though." She raised an eyebrow inquisitively, obviously not getting why he'd asked.
Estaban quorked an eyebrow defensively. "Are ya shaken?" He was still trying to figure out why she was so close. Especially after he'd gotten elbowd in the ribs earlier that day for being the one who got to close.
Lucky furrowed her brows in confusion, tilting her head. "Not exactly? Bit worried, sure. But tha's t' be expected." She shoved her hands in her pockets, studying him as though he was some sort of puzzle.
"Uh-huh." Estaban looked for another way to ask. Though He thought maybe she didn't want to seem weak and just needed some sort of comfort. He awkwardly put an arm around her, still not entirely sure.
Estaban's arm around her only served to confuse Lucky even more. "Did you hit your head or somethin' while bein' tossed around?" She asked, reaching up to gently tap the side of his head, looking concerned.
Estaban's eyes widened at his own stupidity. He quickly retracted his arm and pushed her hands away. "No. Maybe? Don't know." He shook his head feeling stupid.
((Poor baby))
"Then why-" Lucky paused, tilting her head as she thought. "You're worried about me?" She asked, eyes widening a fraction in realization.
(Lol)
"Uh yeah." Estaban looked around hopping for some kinda help from his crew. No one was paying any attention to the two. "Not used ta others worrn' 'bout ya?"
"Not…not really, no." Lucky shrugged a shoulder, looking slightly embarrassed. "Sorry for assumin' ya had brain damage or somethin'."
"Ah, its alright. Ya just stood kinda close nd' I thought somethin' might of been wrong." Estaban chuckled lightly, and let his gaze fall back to the guy that had been thrown over board by the waves earlier.
Lucky looked down, and took a step back. "Er-sorry." She followed his gaze, and a faint smile played on her lips as she watched the man. "What ya did was stupid, but pretty brave."
"I was scared outta my mind." Estaban admitted quietly. He didn't want the rest of the crew to hear. Having a weakness would only give them something on him. "Besides, someone had ta do it."
"Of course you were." Lucky looked back up at him, raising an eyebrow. "The fact tha' ya still did makes it brave." She shook her head, her smile becoming a bit more concrete. "And I woulda, if you hadn't."
Estaban's eyes widened and he turned back to her. "What? Why?" On his face was one of the most confused, most worried looks ever. "That would have been stupid and reckless, Lucky."
"Says the man who did it." Lucky snorted, pulling her hands from her pockets to cross her arms over her chest, for no real reason. The worry on his face startled her a bit, showing in slight confusion on her face.
"Yeah well I'm used to crazy stuff like that." Estaban huffed out a small breath of anger. He didn't know why he was so angry. "Besides that its my crew so ya Don't have to worry 'bout jumin' over to save 'em."
"Of course I'm gonna worry." Lucky said, shaking her head. "If I have the chance t' help, that's what I'm gonna do." She wasn't about to let another person die when she could have done something.
"Well ya Don't have to. If somethen' goes wrong you get me or someone else. I'm not gonna let you get hurt on my ship." Estaban frowned. "And like ya said her leaving at the next stop, I don't want ya dying before then."
"It don' matter if I do." Lucky said, narrowing her eyes at Estaban. "It happens, and it's no use tryna stop it." Why was he so intent on keeping her out of harm's way?
"Well it do matter, nd I will stop it if I have a chance to." Estaban narrowed his eyes back, but not wanting to start a fight, decided to drop it. "I should check on Raphael. He's probably on the floor."
Lucky looked like she wanted to say something else, but nodded shortly. "Make sure he's got some o' that water down, and that he ain't bleedin' too heavy."
"Yes ma'am." Though Estaban was still bitter about the whole thig, he didn't know why. Why did he care? Its not like they really knew each other. Besides that, it'd been less then a day so far.
Lucky wrinkled her nose at the term ma'am, a slightly adorable sight. "Good. He should recover fairly quickly, like I said. Long as he don' get infected." It was a safer topic, neutral.
Estaban nodded at her statement before going off to find Raphael. "Hey bud' ya sleep through the rough patch?" He asked, opening the door.
Of course once Estaban left a few looks where sent Lucky's way. Some grateful. Others seeming to have a new found hatred in them.
Lucky met as many stares as she could, straightening imperceptibly. She could handle herself on her own, but Estaban's company was a slight comfort. With him gone though, she felt just a tiny bit alone.
a crew member stood, towering over Lucky. "Say, now that the Caps gone, we'd best rid our ship from this curse." A sick smile curled his lips as a few agreed. Others seemed to cower, not fearing to stand up to him.
