“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Sterling said with a shrug as he stuffed his hands into his front pockets. “I didn’t realize you had a boyfriend.”

"What?! Niall?! Noooo! No no no no no, he's not my boyfriend. Just an overly affectionate friend and fellow assassin." Her heart sank. She had just gotten him, she didn't want to lose him already.
Sterling raised an eyebrow at her. “Oh. I see… Well, uh,” he coughed and glanced back at the door. “I think they’re about to reveal the mystery… Did you want to come back inside?”
"Yeah, I just want to do one more thing. Don't freak on me, okay?" She chuckled nervously before grabbing him by the collar and pressing her lips to his.
Sterling’s eyebrows both shot up this time as Cassandra kissed him. After his initial shock was over, he put a hand behind her head and closed his eyes, kissing her back gently.
She relaxed slightly when she realized he hadn't rejected her, able to now enjoy the feeling of how his lips truly felt.
After a while, Sterling pulled back and rested their foreheads together. “Okay… Wow,” he breathed. “That was probably the most welcome unexpected thing that’s ever happened to me.”
She blushed and couldn't meet his eyes. "Sorry, I just couldn't help myself."
“Oh, no, it’s perfectly okay, trust me. I enjoyed it very much,” Sterling assured her, pecking her on the lips quickly. “Now, though, I think we should head inside.”
"Yeah, definitely." She chuckled, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the door.
Sterling was smiling widely as he let her pull him into the room. Of course, a few heads turned their way, and people started whispering as they made their way to their seats.
"I'm starting to think people were watching out the windows." She whispered, starting to regret not pulling Niall off to a more private area.
“Nah. I think they just noticed the popular guy walking in with a hot girl holding his hand.”
She couldn't help but blush, she really wasn't used to compliments. "In that case, they're just jealous."
“Oh, definitely. But if you just ignore them, they’ll stop looking at us.”
"Probably." She slid into her seat, combing through her hair with her fingers.
“Well… Sometimes… I’ve been stared at just because I was there a few times, but they eventually find something else to think about,” Sterling said with a shrug.
"Girls tend to stare at cute guys, can you really blame them?" She shrugged.
“And guys tend to stare at cute girls. Does that mean I have permission to stare at you whenever I want?” Sterling asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
She smiled a little. "Sure, just don't get in trouble for it, love." She winked.
Sterling laughed a little and quickly pecked her lips. “I promise that I won’t.”
"Good. I don't want to have to break you out of detention." She chuckled.
“I don’t think college has detention,” Sterling teased, poking her into the cheek.
"You don't know that! Even if it doesn't, they'd create it just to keep you a little longer." She poked him in the ribs with an amused smile.
“Ah, hey! No poking ribs!” Sterling laughed.
"Make me!" She kept poking him with a giggle.
Sterling grinned and grabbed her hand, pulling her to him. He pressed his lips to hers for just a second before pulling away with a s smirk.
She blushed, not meeting his eyes. "That's not fair." She mumbled.
“Oh, I think it’s more than fair, sweetheart,” Sterling chuckled as cheers and catcalls started.
She narrowed her eyes at him. "Fine. But if you can do it…" She pulled him back into a kiss for a few seconds. "Then I can do it too."
