"Very interesting." She smiled a little, she enjoyed a good challenge.

Sterling was handed a folder right before Cassandra was. He glances at her, an eyebrow raised in question. "Our spot from earlier sound good?"
"Yep. Let's go." She smiled a little, she was excited. Doing things like this made her happy.
Sterling chuckled at her excitement as he stood. โYeah, letโs go,โ he agreed, offering her his hand.
Unlike earlier, this time she took his hand, pulling herself to her feet. She squeezed his hand lightly with a shy smile.
Sterling smiled at her as he led her to the lakeside. Since it was getting late, the sky was darkening, casting the world into shadow.
โWell, at least no one will be able to see us over here,โ he chuckled.
"That could either be good or bad. I'll let you decide." She laughed.
โHm, I vote good. They wonโt see us, so they wonโt try to read out files,โ Sterling stated. โAnd they wonโt see me do thisโฆโ He leaned over and kissed her quickly before pulling away and continuing to walk like nothing had even happened.
He had caught her off guard but she shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Ah, hey! Get back here!" She grabbed his wrist and pulled him back, tugging him back down into a kiss.
Sterling laughed into her lips before he kissed her back. He wrapped an arm around her waist, the other cupping the back of her head.
She smiled against his lips and wrapped her arms around his neck. She could feel her heart already start to beat a little faster.
Sterling kissed her for a few moments longer before pulling away and resting their foreheads together. โYou really like doing that, donโt you?โ
"That I do. But since you do it too, clearly I'm not the only one who does." She smiled a little.
โYou got me there,โ Sterling chuckled, pulling back and taking her hand in his again. โNow, lets go see what weโre dealing with.โ
"Mmm, fine." She sighed dramatically, fiddling with the tab to the envelope.
โHey, weโve got a whole week for kissing each other,โ Sterling teased, grinning over at her as they started walking again. โAnd then our whole college careers.โ
She giggled lightly. "Alright, true. But I'm impatient."
โThen Iโll make sure to make it worthwhile,โ Sterling chuckled.
"Alright, let's do this thing." She ripped open the envelope and pulled out the pack of papers with it.
โSit with me first,โ Sterling said, pulling her over to a stump and sitting down.
She shrugged. "Alright." Rather than sitting next to him, she placed herself down on his lap instead.
Sterling snorted. โThat wasnโt what I meant, but that works, too. You just might have to open my folder as well as yours.โ
"You don't seem to complaining about it." She shrugged, opening his as well, starting to scan the page.
The contents of the folder basically just confirmed what they had guessed: the mystery was a murder, and one of the teachers was โdeadโ.
โLooks like we were right,โ Sterling said, reading what he could over her shoulder.
"Knew it." She chuckled, flipping the page to see what else there was to know.
Apparently, each group had a different clue that would lead them to their next. Theirs read: โMidnight comes and I shine bright under the sky, but I am not the moon. What am I?โ
"The stars? No, that seems too simple." She chewed on her lower lip in thought.
โIt says โunder the skyโ. Maybe itโs soemwhere on land?โ Sterling suggested.
"Could it be lights? Just plain lights?" She was just kind of thinking out loud.
โI guess it could beโฆ Maybe we have to wait until midnight to see,โ Sterling mused.
