Ben doesn't like to admit it, but he really loves his friends and is fiercely protective of them. They like to think of him as a Switzerland type, or the guy who's friends with both the jocks and the nerds. Along with Olive Delafosse, he's sort of a parent friend, more of the dad type who tries to take care of his friends but is too distant and emotionally clumsy to be any good at it. (Think of Zuko from ATLA in the beginning stages of his friendship with the group.) When hanging out with the group, he has a very crackhead, don't-give-a-fuck energy. However, when he's on his own, he usually keeps more to himself. He's the one that every teacher is convinced is going to grow up to be a drug dealer, who pays zero attention during class, just skating by in every subject but gym. Girls throw themselves on him, and he hates it. He was a bully in middle school, but as he got older he began to internalize and become quieter and more brooding. Freshmen are terrified of him.

When standing, Ben usually has his hands in his pockets. If he's nervous, he picks at any scabs there may be on his arms, which is why they're usually covered in Band-Aids. His sitting posture in class is horrible; he leans back, stretching out his legs, either with his arms crossed or behind his head. The most he ever laughs in front of strangers is an exhale through the nose.

Because of living in a not-so-good financial situation his whole life, Ben looks down upon people who are wealthier, and seems to be jealous of them, but he hates admitting it.

Ben doesn't really try on his school assignments, and only really gives it his all in sports or if it's for the school band. He also smokes cigarettes and oversleeps often.

Ben's voice is naturally husky, as he yells often, and is definitely fairly low. His singing voice contrasts to his speaking voice, as it is unusually smooth and sweet. He rarely ever sings though, because he's quite self-conscious about it.

His biological mother died giving birth to him, and his father moved him and his sister to Folsom to cope with the grief. His father married his stepmom when he was 11 and he was diagnosed with BPD/ADHD at 14 and depression at 15. He does so many sports to distract himself from his family issues.
