Culture

Language

  • In the early days of the facility, the Mechs of Heaven's Tomb spoke Proto-Mechanus, a language composed of incomprehensible high-speed frequencies that disguised the intentions of the Mecharus. The PentaCorp employees would speak English, Spanish, and other languages that didn't go extinct by this time.

  • Over the years from 2039 to 2099, PentaCorp would attempt to sully the freedom of their Drones by first interfering with the evolution of the Proto-Mechanus language, and eliminating any stragglers that refused to adopt the new languages imposed by their religious leaders.
In the end, they would only permit the use of New Machine Latin and English by the Mecharus. However, unrest within their employees due to technical failures, low pay, armed insurrections, and general uncertainty within Heaven's Tomb led to these rules becoming lax over time.

Population

  • In its early years, Heaven's Tomb was home to only a few Mecharus, around seventy-five of them at the most. However, the amount of PentaCorp employees would outnumber the Mechs 75 to 1.

  • At its peak, Heaven's Tomb was home to over one million Mecharus and just as many PentaCorp employees assigned to manage the various subfunctions in the facility.

Currency

  • Lower level employees are paid in PentaChips, a currency in the PentaCore Conglomerate that's better described as company scrip. In the early days of Heaven's Tomb, lower rank employees were paid in Unified Dollars (UD), the main currency of the new human world government. However, a change in management led to the decision to pay them in PentaChips instead of UD, as they reasoned that the goods that the five branches of PentaCorp offered were enough to support their employees, and that PentaChips were just as valuable as normal money. Unfortunately for the lower level employees, PentaChips had much less value than what PentaCorp had promised them; to put it in perspective, one-hundred PentaChips were worth nine UD. Needless to say, this has led to many protests and strikes in Heaven's Tomb; while the biggest troublemakers were fired or executed, it still led to numerous technical problems in Heaven's Tomb.

  • In Heaven's Tomb, the main currencies of the Mecharus are the Mechanite Digital Dollar (MDD) and the Universal Mecharite Chip (UMC). The former would be the standard currency in Heaven's Tomb, mainly used by the lower to middle class to obtain food, purchase goods, pay taxes, and pay for a home if they have one.
The latter would be the premium currency of Heaven's Tomb, and this currency would be gifted to anyone who served in the Religious Sects, the Peace Division, the Science Division, the Executive Branch, the Worker's Leader Force, the Seers, the Medical Branch, and or perform in the Alkaline Games.
MDD would be worth ten times the value of UMC, and are used to get luxury goods or services that normal Mechs can't access. Having this currency in your possession is considered both good luck and a bad omen, as while it does elevate your status in society, it makes you a target for those that wish to pilfer this currency for their own personal use.

Laws

  • The laws in Heaven's Tomb are a strange mix of stringent and sparse, as while many laws passed by the Executive Division (Usually in response to a request from the Mecharus populace) proved successful in their aims, there were an equal number of laws that seemed rather strange in their purpose. For example, there was a law in Heaven's Tomb called Conduct Code 9826251-CB that prohibited

Sports

  • The main sport within the walls of Heaven's Tomb is Gladitorial Combat, and while there are several unofficial tournaments, the only official tournament in the sport would be the Alkaline Games.
These games would be one of the main ways PentaCorp would entertain and PLACATE both the clueless Mecharus and the bored humans. On occasion, these are supplemented with state-sanctioned executions of those that PentaCorp wants to forcibly reincarnate; to start again.
A match in the Alkaline Games would be composed of five phases: the ID phase, the Resupplying phase, the Healing phase, the Reengagement phase, and the Cornered Phase.
    During these phases, the

Geography

Area

Heaven's Tomb occupies the entire underground territory of Michigan, an expanse of land that composed Old Detroit as well as parts of Archaic Indiana and Antiquated Ohio. This location was chosen by PentaCorp due to their strong sway over the local government, which may or may not have been strengthened by their newly installed puppet leader from their Arceneaux subsidiary.

Located at

  • The entrances to Heaven's Tomb are located at several isolated places in the territory of New Detroit. There are around fifty entrances, half being Mech-sized and the other half being Human-sized.

Climate

  • The climate in Heaven's Tomb can be described as Mercurian in nature, as most areas within the facility are either incredibly chilly or extremely humid.

  • A notable exception to this is Sector 1.2 and Sector 4.2, as they have a moderate climate in comparison to the Lower Levels and Upper Levels.

Timeline of Events

Established Year

  • Heaven's Tomb was completed in the year 2039 AD, although the facility was operational as far back as 2032, back when the Ore Mine that became Heaven's Tomb was purchased by PentaCorp.

Founding Story

  • Heaven's Tomb was created to fill a hole present in a plan that the PentaCorp executives had concocted.
Their plan was to take advantage of a supposed legal loophole regarding "manned killing machines", and they reasoned that if their new line of Drones were sapient, that the law would see these "Mechs" as individuals responsible for their own actions rather than unintelligent robots controlled by a corporation that actively willed the numerous civilian casualties, reckless abandon, and brutal scorched earth tactics that PentaCorp's Drones were known for. PentaCorp believed that the new legal status of these Mechs as separate individuals merely created by them would exempt them from any crimes that they happened to commit as part of their military force, as PentaCorp claimed that they technically weren't in control of their machines, and that in order to establish control over their Mechs they would have to erase their consciousness, which would be counted as an act of murder; an action that the world government was already caught in hot water over, and thus would make PentaCorp more trouble than their worth.
While they were technically correct, their success in evading legal action from the Conglomeration Triadne is likely due to them having more pressing matters than the illegal, seemingly inconsequential actions of a single group of corporations from the mess that is the North American Continent.
